Honking horns!
Shouting street vendors!
Noisy hawkers!
Gawking men!
Catcalling adolescents!
A woman in the driver's seat!
A scenario being replayed for the zillionth of the time at the road leading to old city town in an underdeveloped, misogynistic and man oriented culture!
The traffic signal turned green! Cars slowly started to trail out from the jam!
Ignition!!! Ignition again!!! Gas peddle pumping! Gear shifting! O hell! The car wouldnt move!
Snickering!
Staring!
Stopping in their tracks!
False claims of help came sprouting out!
WOMEN SHOULDN'T DRIVE!
one said,
Thats what happens when you let a woman out on the road!
others said,
SERENITY! Calmness! Peace!
She comes out! Opens the bonnet! re-adjusts the battery terminal! Pushes some wires! Settles some plugs!
Re-enters!
Re-starts!!
Engine spurts to life!!
All eyes turned away! All voices faded!
right in the face of male chauvinism.. our society pleads and cries for women equality, yet they fail to respect women's equality in most cases..
Good story.. should serve as an eye opener for everyone..
