Shit Where You Eat
Or rather, don't. This one's about that connection and intersection of litter and nature, specifically on the beach. Can't stand littering :(
Seashells and scatterings
of plastic bags and broken things
the sun reflects
the sea consumes
all the shit we eat.
Soft sand washing in
and taking out
take out trash from late last night
bottles lasting late into the night
(a barrel of laughs)
smoothed into bright
green shells along the shoreline.
Drink until your cup runneth over
and as you run away, drop your cup over
into the sea.
Little splashes, as the sea objects and swallows deeply
(like a good girl)
all the shit we eat.
The shit we eat but can’t digest.
The oil we churn the coals we burn
a drop in the ocean which goes out
and turns around
to come back to the beach.
What would the mermaids do
without our trinkets to worship?
What would the gullies grow without
the shit we eat?
Where would we be, what seashells would we count
without some shit inbetween.
The first rule and the very last
(it will be our very last)
Don’t shit where you eat.
That's my bottle on a beach, but I take it to the garbage when I'm done with it. I wouldn't leave it there. Anyone know this drink??? Most delicious :D
Anyway the poem is mine but these videos are not, however they're about garbage being dumped in Barbados' beautiful gullies. Check it out @stellabelle! Think Fern Gully! But with old fridges, pet bottles, even car tyres. Like in these videos - check the Louis Vuitton and sheep one!
