down standard of indian judiciary

judiciary is the guarantor of fairness and a powerful weapon against against corruption but peoples experiences fall short of this ideal in india . corruption in india goes beyond the bribing of judges .court personals are paid to slow down or speed up a trial. or to make a complainant go away. citizens of india are often illetrate and are therefore unaware of their rights ,they resign after so many negative experiences to their fate before an inefficient court . indian courts have millions of pending cases .on an average about 20% of the sanctioned positions of judges are vacant , whereas the annual increase in pendency is less than 2%. if the vacancies were filled , pendencies would go down and make the justice system deliver effciently.
