Whereas this piece took more than an hour to write up, edit and source the pictures for.

I upvote quality, original content.

I'll give a piece of advice, though. When you upvote on Steemit, after a week, you'll receive curation rewards. That means the upvote you just cast will bring in a little Steem. Keep going, keep learning and keep improving your blog posts. It takes time, but it's worth it.
