The English professor

in #writing7 years ago

As a language teacher and learner, I am aware of the little errors one can make or the rules of the language they can overlook. In writing for example, punctuation is important in getting your point across. Failure to ignore or misuse punctuation rules can create confusion. I came across this great reminder about the power of punctuation in language:

Punctuation is powerful

An English professor wrote the words:

"A woman without her man is nothing' on the chalkboard and asked the students to punctuate it correctly.

All of the males in the class wrote:

'A woman, without her man, is nothing.'

All of the females in the class wrote:

'A woman: without her, man is nothing.'
