Self-Imposed Torture
I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I read this quote from Downey. Perhaps laugh so I won't cry?? Oh my, but it's so true. And I wouldn't just say "first year." More like first 5 or more years. It was tough. Glad it's behind me. Wouldn't want to go back. But I certainly am not sorry I walked that path. Painful though it was, it led me to where I am today.
Brigitte Downey Bio (in her own words)
From the fields of Limerick to the lights of London--via Vienna, Manhattan, Montmartre, Palermo, Prague, Brussels, Berlin--some of the places I've worked, loved and laughed in. The day jobs are too numerous to mention.
But through the highs and lows the one constant was my writing: novels, feature scripts, sitcoms, nonfiction, articles—and always, always with a dollop of humor. Enjoy!!

Thank you for sharing this. I've always been "the editor" of clients' content. I do really well with that. Writing my own content is a COMPLETELY different kettle of fish! It's HARD -- and that's an understatement!!! "Self-Imposed Torture" is an apropos title for the struggle you face attempting to write something that others will find entertaining, educational or at least interesting enough to read.
Sincerely appreciate your insight and kind comments on this and other posts.
You're on the right track @jazzsassyone. I feel that Steemit is such a great venue in which writers can grow and bloom. I'm loving this! (Eventually, the feeling of torture goes away and it just fun fun fun! If you can believe that.) LOL
