What lide throws at you
Sometimes our minds can tell us that “we're not going to make it,” that “we're not going to succeed,” or that “we're falling behind.” These are thoughts that can cause pain, uncertainty, anxiety... Especially because they paint really unpleasant scenarios of failure, frustration, or even danger...
Something I work on in sessions with my clients is losing the fear of these thoughts, which are nothing more than words, images, memories. Sometimes we take them as commands, sometimes we think they are true and therefore will be exactly the same as reality. The idea is to see them for what they are, products of our mind, and to know that we can relate to them differently, from a place where we are not afraid of them or want to eliminate them.
We all have difficult, ugly, uncomfortable thoughts, and it is part of our evolved “mind” and our ability to reason, reflect, prevent, compare... which is also so useful to us in other areas.
