Short poem - Summer memory
She was never just a kid
That summer we played
And I dreamed
Like a man
At age ten
She was never just a kid
The sunshine through her hair
As she played make up
And I dreamed
Her soft skin
Her skilled hands
She was never just a kid
The butterflies in my belly
When we swam that summer
She elegantly floating
Me splashing around
The way she laughed
She was never just a kid
But I was, until she left
I would never be just a kid
Anymore
