[Original Story] You Are My Only Hope | Chapter 2: Ly Mudita
Let us pause Ravinn’s story for a moment and turn our gaze toward Ly Mudita. Most people simply call her Mudita or Tita. She was born into a family of modest means—neither wealthy nor poor, but having just enough to provide happiness and sustenance for every family member. Mudita is the second oldest among four siblings: three sisters and a younger brother.
As a young child, Mudita was not a particularly outstanding student. However, that changed in the 6th grade when she met a pivotal teacher. This teacher provided her with not only education but also specific methods for memorization and learning. From that day forward, she transformed into a top-tier student, consistently securing the highest rankings throughout her school years.
Tragically, during her 10th-grade year—a crucial step into high school—her father passed away in a traffic accident. With the family losing its strong pillar, the eldest sister and Mudita volunteered to start working to support the family. Due to the exhausting daily toll of balancing hard work and intense study, her academic performance naturally dipped slightly. Nevertheless, Mudita successfully graduated from high school with a very good grade point average.
Today, she has transitioned from working in a restaurant with her sister to a part-time job in a bookstore. In her remaining time, she pursues a Bachelor's degree in Khmer Literature and provides private in-home tutoring. The reason Mudita chose to work in a bookstore is because she is deeply passionate about reading and dreams of becoming an author herself. As for tutoring students in her free hours, she believes it is a noble endeavor to share her knowledge with the next generation while simultaneously generating additional income to support her family’s economy.
How will these two vastly different worlds ever cross paths? Find out in Chapter 3.
