My Life Behind Bars
Some famous guy once said, "Choose a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life". I believe that to be true . No, actually I KNOW that to be true. Young people, I know life is full of people telling you to do this and don't do that. I get it. You want to live your own life. Make your own mistakes. I think that is an important part of the growing up process. Take it from me, this is one thing you don't want to get wrong.
Free yourself from this prison before the doors slam shut. I woke up every day for the past twenty five years and went to a good job, by all standards. A job that paid well. A job that had great benefits. A job that came with fourteen paid holidays a year, as well as four weeks vacation (After 21 years), and two annual personal days. I also was given eighteen sick days a year which I could accumulate up to 185 days. Sweet gig by anyones standard for someone with nothing more than a high school diploma.
There was only one problem, although it was a huge one. I HATED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. It was a prison. At first it wasn't too bad. I took it because it provided a steady schedule and good pay and insurance. All things that were conducive to a happy , healthy family life. But as the years melted away, it became drudgery to go there every day. the work I did was not intellectually or emotionally stimulating. It provided no creative or personal satisfaction of any kind. As the years went on I quickly got to a point where I could not leave because of the security it provided. I quickly got to a point where I found it hard to get another job which could match the payment and incentive perks.
I tell my young adult son now to choose a job that he enjoys doing. Something that stimulates his very soul. Don't choose a life's vocation based on the monetary aspects. choose something that makes you truly happy. Not all prisons have bars on the walls. In fact most things that imprison man are not physical. Most things that imprison man are spiritual, emotional, and psychological. Don't live your life behind those bars. Free yourself now , before the door slams shut.

Wow what a Job experience that is. Yes we must frew ourselves from behind these bars, thank you for sharing
This is wise advice! The emotional prison of the "steady" job that keeps you imprisoned and cuts your creative process off is the worst kind, the kind you can't see.
