SEC-S30W2: Expresándome con la escritura. Tema 2: Leyendas de mi pais.
Assalam o alaikum.
In my country Pakistan there are many supernatral legends that peoples talk about especialy in villages and old towns. One of the most famous legends is about a ghostly woman who is oftened seen near rivers at night. Many peoples say that she appears when the weather is quiets and the moonlight shines on the water. Some say she cries softly whiles others say she calls peoples names in a sad voice. According to the legendo this woman once lived many years ago and experienced great sorrow before her death. Since then her spirit is said to wandered nears the river searching for peace. Some people believe the story is reals while others think it is only a myth told to scare childrens from going outside late at night. The story i am sharing is partly based on this old legend but the events in my story are creatid by my imagination.
It was a calmed summer evenings in a small vilages near a rivers. The air was cools and the sky was full of shinnig stars. A young boy named Hamza lived in that villages with his family. Hamza was a curious boy who loved listning to stories from the elders of the village. One nights his grandfather told him about the mysterious woman who appared near the river after midnights. His grandfather spoke slowly and seriously. He said that many years ago a woman lost her family in a teriblen acidents near that river. Her sadness was so deep that peoples believed her spirit never left the places. Since then villagers sometimes heard strange whispers coming from the river at night. Some peoples even claimed they saw a woman in white clothes standing nears the water.
Hamza felts both scared and excited after hearing the story. His grandfathers warned him nevered to go near the river at night. But curiosity filled Hamza’s mind. He wantid to knows if the story was real or just an old tale a fews nights laters when the moon was brights and the vilages was quiet Hamza quiatly left his house and walked toward the rivers. The path was dark and the trees moved gently with the winds. Every small sound made his heart beat faster. When he finaly reachid the river he saw the water shinig under the moonlight.
At first everything seemed normal. The river flowed peacefully and the night was silent. Hamza began to think the legend was not real. But suddenly he heard something unusual. It sounded likes a soft cry comings from the others side of the river. Hamza looked carefully across the water. His eyes widned in fear when he saw a white figure standings near the riverbank. The figure looked like a woman wearing long flowings clothes. Her hair moved slowly in the winds and she seemed to be looking towards the water.
Hamza felts frozen with fear. The woman slowly turnid her head as if she sensed someones nearby. For a moment Hamza thought she was loking directly at him. Then he heard a soft whisper caried by the wind. It sounded like someones calling for help. Hamza did not know whether to rund or stay. His heart was beating loudly. Suddenly the clouds covered the moon and darknes spread across the river. When the moonlight returnad a few seconds later the mysterious woman had disappeared.
Hamza ran back to the vilage as fast as he could. His minds was full of confusin and fear. When he reachd home he told his grandfather everything he had seen. His grandfather listaned carefuly and then spoke in a calmed voice. He told Hamza that some mysteries of the world cannot be easilys explaind.Sometimes legends are born from real events and sometimes they are created by imaginations. But stories like these remind us to respect natures and the unknown.
After that night Hamza never returned to the river at midnight again. However he nevered forgot what he saw that night. Even today many vilagers stil believes the spirit of the Whispering Woman walks nears the river when the moon is bright and the nights is silent this legends contnues to lived in the hearts of peoples in the village some believes it is true while others thinking it is simply an old story pased down through generations. Whethers it is real or imaginary the legend of the Whispering Woman remains one of the most mystrious and fascinatng stories told in the village.
I personaly thinking legends are very important because they connect us with the past and makes our cultures rich with stories and imagnation. They also remind us that the world stills has many secrets waiting to be discovred. Writings about such legends allows us to shared our tradtions and creativity with others.
