Why XIAOMI? After 1 month with the Xiaomi Redmi 5

Why choose XIAOMI, in my personal case I always wanted to bet on that brand not so well known by many, who says that an entry range can not be complete, good benefits and a super affordable cost and in my case in a country with the power This low purchasing power came to me like a finger ring.

In this case the Redmi 5, a powerful Xiaomi candidate, terminal that I have been testing for a month and today I tell you my experience. This is the case where it is given as a reference that an economic smartphone can afford an excellent screen with few frames and an excellent resolution, if there is something to highlight the design of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 the strong point where the company includes high-end ideas to the entrance. We refer to a screen design (almost) without frames and the adoption of the 18: 9 format, in a diagonal of 5.7 inches with a resolution of 720 x 1440 that I think is a very well achieved resolution for the screen that accompanies it, it is worth noting that has a screen brightness which automatically low brightness is a disadvantage in bright conditions as well as in reflections or polarization of the panel, which makes it vertical, with some sunglasses, you can see nothing screen, which is quite uncomfortable if you usually go with this type of lens continuously .. The rounded corners are another nod that says a lot about the effort at design and appearance level of this Redmi 5.

The good overall finish of the terminal and its screen size go almost unnoticed in dimensions, especially in weight. In spite of being balanced and reducing the lateral frames enough, it does not do the same with the superior and inferior, so in hand it is a terminal something big (quite high) but not so heavy. In the case of the camera I would say that it is a fairly complete section with respect to its price but I would like to say that your camera is quite good and its management software is quite complete, integrated with a main camera of 12 megapixels and focal f / 2.2 and falsh led, with a good location in the back and a 5 megapixel front camera also accompanied by a led flash, another noteworthy section is your fingerprint reader as in the input range I have encountered several sensors which had left me with a bad taste in my mouth but this is not the case of the Redmi 5, since its sensor is quite comfortable I would say that super fast and it has not presented me any failure when unlocking this smartphone.

If in the part of design and screen almost everything have been praises for the Redmi 5, always thinking about its price and the competition, it happens the same mainly with the processor. Here Xiaomi has decided to optimize the cost to the maximum and has placed an amortizado processor as the Snapdragon 450. It is quite strange in a manufacturer that always leaves us the image of an excellent assembler of the most current components but it is a processor which its eight nuclei at 1.8GHz behave too well, of course accompanied with its 32GB of internal memory and its 3GB of RAM, which in my personal case are quite sufficient, since its layer of MIUI personalization, layer that I think is a of the best optimized ones make their overall performance optimal, giving almost 76,000 points in the benchmark. In summary, it surprises the fact that a somewhat old processor with such good features, but it really does not need more to get an experience of the most satisfactory for its price.

In this Redmi 5 we find the MIUI 9 layer but it is not yet on Android 8.0. It is the main stick of a personalization that you must tame before feeling comfortable with it because, although it is very well optimized and the design is attractive and closer to a pure Android than other Asian layers, there are still many services and applications what or not we will use or do not want to get involved in our daily flow under Android, but for my part I give a point in favor with the inclusion of their gestures with which if you get used to you can control the team in a very comfortable way and make good use of its big screen.

Excellent autonomy, without long loading times is another point in favor of the device, the weight and thickness of this Redmi 5 is noticed in hand but in return, also in the battery from a positive point of view. Within this terminal we find 3300 mAh battery that, associated with the majority user profile of this terminal, allows us to grant a day of autonomy without problem with excessive use and I dare say that two days for a casual user, in my case the use of the terminal is more intensive, after a month of use with the Redmi 5, those two days are greatly reduced, but I have had no problems in reaching the full day with enough battery, it should be noted that this terminal does not bring fast charging as it does not include the type C that is already a standard, but the load times would say that they are quite fast and can reach 100% of the battery with an hour and a half load.

Having said all this, there is no doubt that we are facing a powerful team more than recommended for its price, but it should be valued in its fair average in sections such as the camera and comparing almost most times with models within its own brand.

Looks like a nice budget phone, but 3gb of RAM won't be enough for serious multitaskers

a having an 8-core processor accompanied by 3 GB of RAM optimized by its operating system make the experience optimal even in multitasking using the most common applications, navigation, social networks, multimedia content and even games.

Yes, its good for kids, novices and regular users, but when a serious multitasker like myself is on the move I need the One Plus 6 with 8gb of Ram because I do serious work on my device, such as Ayurvedic medical diagnosis and Cryptocurrency trading which requires at least 6-8gb of RAM as most times many high powered applications are being used simultaneously.
