Anyone surprised by yacht refit costs lately?

I was planning a simple upgrade for a 50ft yacht, but the quotes escalated quickly once shipyards started checking the engines, wiring, and hull condition.

Seems like most owners underestimate:

engine/system upgrades
labor delays
hidden structural repairs

For many 40–60ft yachts, full refits now easily reach $300k+ in 2026.

Has anyone here completed a refit recently? Was it worth it compared to buying another yacht?
