Why We Can No Longer Support Maryland

in #youtube27 days ago (edited)

For years, we’ve supported greek youtuber Maryland, not only just as viewers, but as a community that believed in her, at her honesty, and connection with us. Her blend of lifestyle content, book talk, and heartfelt storytelling made her absolutely stand out. We endorsed every upload, while waited patiently for her return.

But over time, that trust has faded. Maryland promised regular videos, specifically, one every Friday. But those uploads never came. More importantly, she stopped communicating with the people who helped build her platform without updates, explanations, or even a message to her viewers. We all understand that creators have personal lives and relationships. But it’s about respect.

The disappointment deepened with a recent video in which a “funny” bathroom sign was shown reading: “Please don’t do coke… in the bathroom - we have a living room for that”. We understand that some people might see this as a joke, but for many of us it simply wasn’t funny. Drug references, even in a humorous context, send the wrong message. They can normalize or trivialize something serious, and that’s not the kind of content we ever expected or wanted to see from someone we’ve supported for so long.

Our decision isn’t about anger or drama but about respect, for ourselves, and for what we once believed this channel represented. If Maryland ever chooses to rebuild that relationship with honesty and responsibility, we’ll be here to listen. Until then, we’re stepping back.
