Paying zakat is one part of the main principle of Muslims. In Pillars of Islam, paying zakat occupies the third place after saying the shahada and performing the prayer. There are certain criteria that determine whether a Muslim has an obligation to pay zakat or not.

Zakat fitrah or purification of the soul. Zakat is obliged to be paid by any person who is capable or has the advantages of food fulfillment ability, once a year.
The amount of zakat fitrah is about 3.5 liters or 2.7 kilograms of rice or groceries eaten daily. Zakat is paid before the implementation of Eid prayers. you who become the head of the family and provide for many people, is also obliged to issue zakat fitrah dependents such as children, wife, parents, and so forth.

Who is entitled to Zakat?
In Islam, there are 8 groups who deserve zakat, among others:

  1. Fakir (the person who has no property)
    2.Poor (people whose income is insufficient)
    3.Riqab (slave or slave)
    4.Gharim (the person who has a lot of debt)
    5.The converts (new converts)
    6.Fisabilillah (warrior in the way of Allah)
  2. Ibn Sabil (traveler and overseas students)
    8.Amil zakat (receiving committee and zakat fund manager)
