Technology...

Is changing the way we live.
.......................................................................................................................................................
I recently posted a commentary on Government regulating stuff that they know nothing about
It was not all that well received. In fact some replies were somewhat hostile.
BUT.
It got me to thimking...
Suppose..
That cars were 'sold' under much the same conditions that...say...as your smartphone.
I'm thinking that JUST might be possible. Instead of buying cars as we do now...we'd 'buy' them in the same manner that we 'buy' smart phones.
after the form of..
electricity to charge the batteries extra cost
or some such.
In other words...'buy it'...run it...'plug it in when the battery goes low'...take it in for a check up every so often.
Or perhaps not even that..
When you purchase a car...are you buy ing a CAR...or are you taking; the most affordable option to secure the most versatile form of transportation?
At one time it was the most affordable and most versatile method available.....will it continue to be so?
Autonomous Uber
but that's a subject for a future post.
Once these cars start rolling out in a few years, think of all the free time it will open up people to post on steemit haha
And when you no longer have your own car and are waiting on the uber car you better have an uber lawyer lined up, because your uber spouse is going to get uberly ticked off at you, unlike in the old days of not only having to wait for you to start the car warm it up or cool it off, but now it will be why didn't you call earlier for the Uber car now our uber tickets to that uber concert are going to go into the uber garbage can to be picked up by the uber garbage police all because you couldn't get off your uber butt and call for the uber car in a timely manner.
if uber has that poor of service then use lfyt...
or any of a multitude of other transportation services that do better.
OR..
buy a horse..
We will never own anything, we are just renting it, with rented money, with rented time, with a rented life, we don't even own ourselves, as soon as you are born you are labeled as a citizen of that "country", meaning you are owned by that country, need to ask permission for everything.
"Owning" something only means you have the right to exert force thought out the legal system, or thought out your own means, while you are alive, in case someone else want to steal it, or you can transfer the "ownership" to someone else (not without asking permission first of course).
The concept of ownership is just the reflection of the human desire of wanting to have control over the things we don't have control over, thinking you don't own a "phone" because you can't take it apart is self-centered.
I can "own" a car, and I am sure as heck I can't take apart at all, warranty or not warranty.
Now, that doesn't means that after you "bought" a smartphone, the company that sell it to you has the right to take it away, but the software inside it, it is still own by them, that means you are "owning" a carcass that runs a program that you are renting, aka the OS, the same as well as you can run Windows with a license in your computer/machine/windowsphone.
And yes, car will end the same, as the self driving cars enter the market, they would become what we know as a robot "own" by the car companies that they will "rent" a carcass to you, that you can't alter in any way, as that will affect the performance of program inside it, voiding the warranty.
Well, that was fun haha.
I may be ready for an electric car but I am not and probably will never be ready for a self driving car. The electric car has some advantages if you stay near the big city. I still prefer gasoline or diesel if Im going to travel cross country.
certainly...
tell me..does your current car have automatic transmission, cruise control and climate control?
GPS perhaps?
Yes all of the above. I sometimes miss the old days when we didnt have all of those things. I dont know how I could live without climate control now.
If that's the case then it's but a short step to having the car do one or two leeeeetl more things for you.
no offense..but if you have an automagic transmixer you're NOT really driving..if you have cruise control even less so...GPS?...Less even yet. If you have distracting features such as radio/stereo..or a smartphone...then you'd be much safer going the whole nine yards. Leave the driving to the car.
As we allow more things to be 'done' for us, the will - the desire for freedom gets chipped away...until it's no longer here..?
Screw that!
right...
how's your flint knapping skills?
and fire starting?
Tools that empower us to make more choices - excellent
technology that restricts our freedom of choices, not quite the same thing...
I see a difference.
embrace the former.
avoid the later.
I wonder when those autonomous ubers will roll out?
That's shockingly normal these days. How man folks with relevant experience have been dismissed out of hand on the dubious grounds that they have a 'vested interest' or are 'reactionary'?
No wonder so many folks pull back and say, "then let 'em learn the hard way."
