Why IS My Vote Taking Away Money From People When I Upvote Them?
This question was asked by @cryptonite-elite last night. He did not get a response and asked me if I knew what was going on, but I have no Idea. Every time he does an upvote it takes 2 cents off of the persons total.
He said he does not know how long this has been happening , he just noticed it last night.
Can anyone answer why this is happening?
I think it has to do with the price of steem right now, its dropped a lot the last day or so. Though I'm sure someone who knows more than I do about it can weigh in.
I don't think that is the problem. It did not do it when the price was 22 cents.
@halo from how I understand it @fingolfin is on the correct path this as happened every since I started here over 2 years ago, its always been here, the same happens when the price goes up, say if it goes up suddenly your vote instead of making the rewards total go up by 1 cent or even 0 it might instead go up by 3, but this is not because the vote is worth more it's basically the system re-updating to the new price as the Steem value changes, but it can still change again it's only when it reaches zero from the remaining hours to get your rewards will it update to it's finalised reward.
I don't think you are right it is only @cryptonite-elite account doing this my account does not do it and some other people i have talked to accounts are not doing it. He noticed yesterday that if he votes on stuff that is only a few hours old it does not do it , it only does it on post that are 1 day old or older.
It has happened to my account as well. I'm thinking It wouldnt do it on a post that is a few hours old because that post has a recent steem price and has calculated the post rewards accordingly. The older posts get the updated steem price when you interact with them.
For example, I just voted on this post- https://steemit.com/steemcleaners/@steemcleaners/steemcleaners-report-for-14-april-2019 and it went from 27.74 to 26.95
You can test it for yourself, pick a different steemcleaner post (not that one) from a few days ago and see if it goes down when you vote on it
