Cleanliness, the writer's ninth commandment

**Pulcro is an adjective that is associated among other definitions to clean, careful, impeccable and pristine.**

All these conditions are of vital importance in daily life and also indispensable conditions for those who show their creations to others, their personal and subjective view of life and fictions.

A writing that has details that highlight it negatively, no matter how good the subject matter, causes rejection to the reader, especially if it is demanding, and it is proven that the success in getting our followers is made up of a high percentage of those who are furious fans of the letters and therefore like that the texts stand out for their neatness.

Those who have fulfilled the commandment of exigency know that there can be no slippage when it comes to presenting inspirations to others.

A writer is a passionate lover of letters therefore must be a faithful adherent to the rules that govern through the centuries, these have four indispensable aspects that are, regardless of the order of importance and that all have: Writing, Spelling, Lexicon and Literary Language Management, because it must be clear that not everything you write is literature.

With this I am not saying that it should be perfect, but that it should worry and occupy itself with mastering the art of writing, which, like all art, stimulates the senses and provokes indescribable sensations in the reader.

I make the observation that although it seems very professional or bombastic the grandiloquence more than to add and gain followers, subtracts these, since like all extremes it does not generate very popular reactions.

On this Ernesto Sabato, one of the classic American novelists wrote: "A good writer expresses great things with small words; unlike a bad writer, who says insignificant things with grandiose words".

Cleanliness is also far from egotism or the search for strange words or little use to give the false impression to the reader that he has a broad lexicon and a high degree of erudition, also the abuse of literary figures that entangle what you want to convey and everything that ends up confusing or being part of the easy rhetoric that does not lead to understanding and therefore disconnects the reader from the plot of the work.

To be neat at the time of writing is not to be obsessive, but to act in a natural way, in such a way that it does not mean for us a superhuman effort because of not having fulfilled the other commandments, that are giving us the indispensable weapons with which we acquire the facility to develop impeccable texts.

As we grow as soldiers of letters, we are acquiring knowledge, learning tricks, creating our own space and style, and should not miss to write correctly that although similar is not the same as writing well.

Our work is the use of words and they have the power to build or destroy; they are a bomb that we can explode to win, but that can also explode and harm us.

Errors are part of life in all fields but they should serve us to learn and improve, and when we begin our journey through this wonderful universe where dreams are real and reality can be a fiction, with the knowledge acquired through reading and obeying the basic commandments, we have more than half of the fight won and we must only put love to the development of words so that our inspirations meet the appropriate standards of writing, spelling, lexicon and handling of literary language.
