Hacks To Deal With Crappy People
Most of us come across unreasonable people in our daily lives. We may perhaps be trapped with a difficult person at the workplace or at home, and it’s possible to allow that difficult person to ruin our day consistently.
Whether it’s a colleague, at the workplace your neighbor or even your child at home, you can effectively deal with that person in a way that you’ll always win them over. The first and most important rule are to think strategically at all times to get ahead and make the best out of any situation. A great part of that process is to stop, think and do the unusual.
Here are a few interesting tips on how to deal with difficult people, but keep in mind that they are not general rules, and not all of the tips may apply to your specific situation. Simply apply what works and leave the rest.
Validate
You probably would be amazed at what this simple action will do. The basic reason people try to resist others, by all means, is simply because they do not feel heard or understood. Validating and being attentive to these people make them feel important this is surely the quickest approach to moving forward.
Keep your cool
The very first thing to do in the face of a difficult person is to maintain your composure and be less reactive, that way you can use your better judgment to deal with the situation.
Once you feel upset with someone, right before you say something you might eventually regret, take a deep breath and count gently to ten. In most cases, as soon as you reach ten, you are likely to have puzzled out one of the best ways of communicating the issue, so that you could lessen, rather than worsen the problem. If you're still upset after counting to ten, take some time out if you need to, and reconsider the issue as soon as you calm down.
Think like them
Visualize being in their shoes for one moment. Exactly what do they want? If you had been in their situation, what would it seem like? Just this hint can get you far since the majority of people are seeing one viewpoint: theirs. Good problem-solvers can change perspectives.
Don’t resist
The things you resist persist. People are likely to resist you more when you resist them. Devote a little more time getting acquainted with their viewpoint and ask them questions to understand them better.
Be open to the bigger lesson
More often than not, there is a significantly bigger life lesson to be figured out apart from the situation where someone is difficult. It could be revealing the way you get along with and relate to people in general, how you’re creating conflict, or just what the conflict triggers in you. Be open to the possible lesson that is bigger than the situation itself.
Fly like an eagle
Some people in our lives are simply just not worth tussling with. Your time and energy are important, so unless of course there’s something really important at stake, don’t waste it by making an effort to change or influence a particular person who’s negatively entrenched. As the saying goes “You can’t take a flight exactly like an eagle so long as you hang around with turkeys” Regardless of whether you’re dealing with a difficult colleague or an irritating relative, be diplomatic and make use of the suggestions from this article when you need to communicate with them. The rest of the time, always maintain a healthy distance
Very good post. One thing I like to use when dealing with people is to
It's kind of similar to just stay cool but is very helpful when trying to resolve conflicts.
I LOVE that! It's so true!
not taking everything personally makes a massive difference on your well being. Such a nice comment.
👍very interesting post, great @kaylinart
you are still not answering why you feel justified to go and flag every post i ever made and then to spend the rest of the night instantly flagging anything elese i posted. all because on your post "is online dating good for scocity?" where i commeted "its sad and depressing imo" you then went to my page and flagged all my posts? why? how was your actions that made me start spamming you for answers not trolling? you took my rating down from 37 to 2. why was that ok in your eyes?
You are right @xeroc, criticism is good if it means to reconstruct the person.
True true :)

A mantra I try to live by: "Always remember people are just doing their best from where they are at." Helps reframe when dealing with "difficult" people.
So true :) I love that mantra

I must confess, the content here took me by surprise...
based on the title, I was expecting something semi-self-righteous and judgemental, like "walk away from negative vibes" or the such...
however upon diving in, I was pleased to see a balanced viewpoint with a dash of compassion thrown in.
nice. :-)
hehe thank you ! I'm glad you liked it!

Great post. The way i hadle situations is to just not let that negative part enter me. I am aware of it being there, but for the most part whats done, is done. Its like crying over an ex or something and then a month later, you are asking yourself, "she wasnt worth crying over". We all do this, so i just look at the positive side and take it as a learning experience, or just make note of it and try to handle what ever it was muc better when it happens again. Stay positive out there people! Life is life.
I love your comment! It's so true!

Yep! That's true and you gotta learn to say NO if you don't want to because that's up to you whether you wanna give someone the time again to waste or not.
Well done thanks. I appreciate it.
Exactly! Time is the one resource you cannot get back
Damn right! However, it is the world of science though everybody is evolving and inventing bigger things like Google, Android, YouTube Facebook and now I'm glad to be part of Steemit too! :)
I love it! Steemit is definitely my favorite haha.

I like your last two tips best. When I cannot be distant, I like to think that there is usually a lesson somewhere that even the crappiest of people can teach us. Thanks again.
SO true! EVERYONE can teach us something about life, Even crappy people

As a hairdresser i deal with so many personalities and energies. It's great to learn how to keep myself a little more level headed when it comes to costumer service. I need to "think like them" more.
Yes! Try to like them, It will help you stress less and feel better :)

Upvoted! This is great advice. Counting to ten works for a lot of people, I do not need it, I am in a state zen all the time. I just smile at them and wait for them to move on. I do not waste my energy getting upset at anyone. I figure unhappy people have bigger issues to deal with than me, and thier attitude tells me so. I am a gas station attendant. I see it all day, people's bad day. I smile, say thanks for stopping in, and help them move on. They are going to be mad at everything and everyone, no matter what.
However, often times, I can crack a joke or a witty comment and cheer them up. That makes my day man! I love seeing people smile when they are trying to be in a bad mood.
Keep up the great work on steemit! Thanks for posting!

That is amazing! I love that you are able to do that! I"m still working on my ability to deal with those people.
Aww more people need to be like you thats for sure!
