48 hours into My First Fasting
ImgI woke up today feeling good and not even hungry. From now on though the dogs walks must be shortend as I can feel the body isn't enjoying to move. I just went and layed in the bath for a while and when I got out I managed to faint somewhat but not black out for a long time luckily. I actually just lifted a foot to scratch it and then felt my head hit the toilet seat or the floor, not really sure what one it was first, I thought it was the floor and checked my forehead for blood and was happy the was none, but the realized I had smashed the bridge of my nose and an old scar from when I got head butted had started bleeding again.
So from now on I must stand up very slowly and be very careful with how I move. Because I didn't start this fasting straight away from a regular diet as I wasn't eating so much anyway over the last months and had lost already over 4kg from my minimum body mass, I think I'm more in the fasting stages than I should be after just 48hours and so to actually do a full 7 days fasting after already turning so dam skinny could be a mistake. I knew today that I must rest a lot, and also tomorrow and so on until I feel ok but after getting out the bath I realize that this is now paramount to just rest.
Ill now lay down, and binge out on netflix, or even better try get the password for HBO from my mate and get watching the rest of vikings series.
I'm aiming for a water only fast with lemon, but have been drinking citrus white tea also because I'm a pussy. The Water in any city tastes like crap compared to water from nature and here I can taste the chlorine so the first thing when I go the was to fill up many glasses and cups with water to let the chlorine evaporate (which it does completely in under 20 hours in a warm room) so I have at least non chlorinated water to drink.

So how am I feeling, any changes?
Earlier today and even now, I feel very light and I can feel my body more without touching it (if that makes sense). My head feels very clear and calm and although I didn't meditate since many days, I feel that same bliss as if I had been.
Not many thoughts of food, only earlier when I was walking the dogs past a pizza restaurant (stomach rumbles just now from the memory!) and got a good long wiff of pizza cooking. I found my first free thing in the trash in Poland whilst looking for something to use to clean a dog poo up.. and guess what it was?! ( I love how the universe works..)

One of my goals is to also stop smoking tobacco, and actually since Ive been in the appartment which is now 42 hours, I have smoke 5 rollie sized joints which is nothing to what I would normally smoke.
In part one of this Fasting Blog thingy I proposed that for me personally, smoking is strongly related to food and this so far I believe is correct. When you smoked some kinds of ganja (and yes there are 1000's of different types), some can make you hungry so you eat something, usually a snack- and then after eating its really nice to smoke (so the mind says- and there must be something that smoking does to the digestive workings because it feels somehow natural to do so.)
You see the cycle here? Get the munchies after a smoke, eat something, then smoke after eating, then get munchies again.. and so the cycle goes on. Luckily I quit sugar and so the things I would eat as snacks were always not sweet things all the time, but sure they still consisted of added sugar, even standard white bread contains 10% sugar, did you know that?!
My muscles are disappearing since a while I noticed as I wasn't eating so much in general and now they start to feel weird
When I was in the bath I realized that people who want to "find theirselves" should just do a fast - You don't need to go anywhere to experience yourselfand for sure people that really want an "experience" should most definitely try out fasting, or even better said, dont try it DO IT and get past that initial feeling of hunger stage. It feels like meditating but without meditation, and its strange but I cant even explain at the moment of how it feels apart from relating it to the bliss of regular meditation, but in the body instead of in the mind. You really get to feel your body and think of nothing else.
Earlier and times like now, I'm wondering actually if I will be able to go and get things to eat after few days from now.
Will I be feeling good with energy or will I feel faint and weak? I'll see how it goes, but I've come this far and so I will do at least another 48 hours making four whole days of no food (I did eat 3 handfuls of dry cornflakes last night but plan not to do that again!) I read that after 7 days of fasting any healing that the body receives is multiplied in effect and had thought on the 7th day, to go slash some cash on a very long massage and then after this to start making smoothies from organic veggys and fruits.
I will post again tomorrow and would also love to hear form others who have done this already. Even just from over 24 hours, I realize that I will be doing this much more often in the future.
Big Love & Abundance,

Check out this guy's articles on fasting. Lots of great info. One takeaway is that you can eat fat (only) like avocados or butter and still get a lot of the same benefits while getting a bit of a pick me up. Sugar however pretty much restarts the process. https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2018/12/30/complete-guide-fasting.aspx

Also check out intermittent fasting.

This is the obvious way I feel to go about it!
A while back somewhere, a guy said about fasting 24hours , then 24hours of eat what you want, even junk food.
Interesting that sugar resets the fast , but makes complete sense - sugar is just a poison!
Hi what do you mean by sugars resetting a fast?
He said that it "pretty much" restarts the fast, which does kind of make sense?
Do you have a link to this? I don't even understand what restart means in this context. Starts the fasted state? How could eating start a fasted state?
That link in the parent comment has a lot of good info. I think it depends on your purpose of fasting. If your looking for the health benefits Dr mercola basically says that your body enters a fat burning mode instead of burning sugar for energy and that this is a necessary thing that most westerners rarely ever experience nowadays since it happens after all the free glucose in our blood and digestive tract is gone which takes about 16 hours after eating. There are apparently a lot of hormonal changes that take place as well as a resetting of our insulin response that happen in this fat burning mode.
If your going for the spiritual benefits then I'm not sure what the rules are ;). But I've definitely experienced some beautiful clarity on an empty stomach.

Empty stomach is the only time I can do anything*. As soon as I eat, I crash. I have to rest and nap.
I dont have any proof of this but im guessing as I know much about sugar, I can only imagine that if one would eat refined sugars whilst in fasting, that it would immediatly stop the fasting procedure and thus resetting it..

Ah I see what you're saying now.
this is sounding cool! Avocardos had already crossed my mind but I dint know that fats are ok to eat whilst fasting, what about animal fats?
I think animal fats are fine, he mentions raw butter alot. I don't really eat meat so I'm not sure about all that.

Welcome to the world of fasting! I am an advocate of everyone being their own healers and being able to decipher what their own bodies need. The person who I learned fasting from said that our bodies ALWAYS burn fat before muscle, and we won't start burning muscle until the bitter end. And, he said, that when we get catabolic (burning muscle), our cortisol levels go through the roof. So since you're feeling meditative and blissful, you're probably not catabolic. But you know, obligatory be careful. Fasting teaches you the nuance of deciphering your low desires vs your high desires. It teaches you how to hear your calling and listen to it and take the necessary action. Humans can go a crazy amount of time without eating. And as the person I learned from said, "Trust me, NO ONE has enough discipline to die of hunger fasting." If you're in a catabolic state, you won't be able to stop yourself from eating. It's different from withdrawal symptoms. But the reason I bring that up is because the body doesn't burn muscle until there is no more fat. So, if you don't have anymore fat to burn, you can't fast, bud. The person I learned from would help people to fatten up so they could fast and reap the benefits. I'm going to share this post on my facebook page. :) Excited for your journey. I'll try to come around to Steemit world more often so I can keep up with it. If you haven't noticed, pretty much all I post about is fasting. 😁
Man this is very very deep stuff, I meditated earlier and it was so much more intense. Im getting on off bodily tingles and I feel like my blood circulation is flowing better. I was thinking to wait until my bowels are emptied and not needing a 'number 2' as I recall an ex when she told me she was very shocked that a himan still poo's even after days of not eating.
I think tomorrow I shall go buy a stick blender and beautiful organic things and do some plant based smoothys.
A part of me trusts to do another 48hours, but to go get things ready for when I feel its time. I think this can go some more though, I didnt even meditate at all really and could easily pass time with this. I havent even been resting as a sick person would as in laying down and not doing anything, I have quite alot of energy and im wondering how it will be tomorrow 😀
Even after this experiment I know that I will be fasting again! So theres no need to push it to where I feel uncomfortable. Dam I feel good though from this.
As for the nicotine, I think after some more fasting combined with meditation, I will have less thoughts of addiction. I actually just smoked the last of my hash and dont know anyone in this area for some more, so that helps in a way!
P.S. I have a feeling that your time to quit that nicotine is upon you now. Also friend, trying not to be the annoying person here, but the nicotine may be why you're almost passing out, etc. Fasting + nicotine is better than no fasting, but they're not a good pair imo. ❤️ Go for it! Go all the way. I think this is your time. 😉
Fasting is a deep and complicated science. I'd say anything beyond 48 hours can be tricky or dangerous if you are not experienced/trained in fasting. If this is your first long fast (over 24h) i'd say that 48h is enough. Better go buy some light food/juice now to have at hand for when you will decide to stop the fast.
It is kind of like running, if it the the first time you go for a run, trying to run 15k can injure your body. If you are experienced, its your weekend run!
Edit: Putting some honey into your tea is good for cleansing. Also: remember that your body needs salt even on fasting days.

One time a mate crawled in agony and im full body cramps into my wagon in spain and woke me up screaming for help, It turned out after a trip to the hospital he had no salt left in his body, so Im quite aware of how important salt is for us, we had no clue what was wrong with him at the time!
Oh yeh the honey! Great idea!
Be careful mate listen to your body and stop the fast early if you need to. Hope it all works out great for you.

So far its going good! Decided to go tomorrow and buy some organics in prep to eat again.. But I will watch the mind more because once I get something here to eat, it will be saying to just eat out of habit. Predicament, body can easily do alot more.
There are ofcourse different fastings to do and this was/is a tester. Thats really cool that you are also new and experimenting with it 😀
