Building Better Habits {Actifit}
Hey guys! It's been a week since my last @actifit post, so it was about time to log some steps again. Luckily the sun came out today so I could actually get a run in! I know many of you suck it up and run in all conditions, but I hide indoors most often when it gets really nasty.
In addition to logging some miles today, I'm also happy to report I'm pumped to be working on a new healthy morning routine. My pal @byebyehamburgers is really good about setting goals and making checklists, so I'm trying to make more of a habit of doing that myself. Today was the third day recently that I started out the day making a list of things I wanted to get done today. I know, a lot of you folks probably already do this on a daily basis. I totally understand the power of writing things down, but somehow have neglected to realize how much of an impact it has on my daily routine.
I have 100% improved my productivity levels the days I have done this. I don't think of myself as a procrastinator, but I do need focus and goals so I don't waste my day away. It also feels really great to see all of those check marks at the end of the day!
Having a run on my list definitely pushed me to make sure I got out and did it. Nothing too fancy today, just a solid 4-miler. It does seem to take me quite a while to warm up and get in my groove anymore, but it always feels good when I finish. 😉
I will definitely start nailing down my running goals for 2019 so I can not only "just run" but also have a specific goal for each run. I know @run.vince.run and @toofasteddie have written some great stuff on their own blogs and for @runningproject related to the importance of a training plan. Not that I can't just go out and enjoy the miles as is, but it's time to get back to having a fun goal to work towards!
Another great day on the books, so I hope it was good for you all, as well! Anyone else have some solid morning routines to make sure you make the most out of each day?

Running is the best way to stay fit. I have been away from physical activity...but slowly when i started to worry about my health...first thing i did was running and slowly from few meter to many kilometer...it ia going pretty well

Running definitely hits a number of buttons for me. Besides being a great physical activity, it really is such a good stress release. Nothing beats getting outdoors soaking in a little nature while you get your exercise in!
That's ..true...soaking in sweat helps to remain active throughout the day. I still loves to take 5-6 km per day

Man you 10k @actifit ers are inspirational. I feel so embarrassed in the week posting my low totals and then missing posting them on busy weekends because I get busy!
Like you, I think I have to set some goals and work it into a pattern.
Nice work!
Haha, well I only post once or twice a week with @actifit, so I try to make it count when I do. Some of those folks get up over the 20,000 mark on a regular basis! Even as active as I am that is a challenge. :)
It's always nice to have a little motivation to continuing working harder!
The day has only 23 hours and not 24, do you know why? Because one hour is booked always for running.

Great to read the checklists are working out for you Katie !
I added another layer to mine recently after noticing I started to slack and procrastinate on some of them finding some excuses each time. Each day I fail on certain goals, I promise to give the post rewards of that day away. So far (2 days in) it has been extremely effective :)
You are doing awesome, Keep it up!
Always ways to continue to improve and move forward, right? The donating of the post rewards is a great motivator and just nice to give back sometimes, anyway. :)
I'm going to try to make just the list a habit, and then expand on it once it is a daily occurrence. I'd love to get to the point where I can actually assign times to each task so I can see where I can fit even more in. I think part of my problem is that I have been slower at work lately. When I'm busier I just squeeze what I need to do in when I have breaks, but if I have most of the day free it is really easy to kick back and cruise through. Thanks for sharing your journey because it is definitely helping motivate me to do better!
Thanks Katie, I'm also getting a lot of motivation from you and others here on Steemit. More than anything, the community makes it the perfect place to go about making some progress in life. I have to watch out not to get overly caught up in it though, I guess we all do :)
All about that balance, right? I do need to add that to the list soon--getting better at setting specific time limits when I log on. I enjoy the community so much it is hard sometimes not to want to get on every so often throughout the day to check in, but I think it is a more productive life practice to have set times to touch base. :)
I sure really need to get back on my list... Have been neglecting it for a while.
Thanks for reminding me 😊
Happy to put it out there! It's easy to fall out of the habit once you have a routine down, but I think it really is a great practice when you feel like you could be getting more out of each day.
Hey @plantstoplanks
Nice step count. Having goals is definitely a good idea and something that I just don't do enough of.
Keep up the good work.
Gaz
Thanks Gaz! I enjoyed getting out and picking up some good steps on my run today. Especially after knocking out some of my daily goals before hand. I am one that if I physically write something down I am definitely more inclined to do it. Kind of like signing a contract with myself I suppose!
I makes total sense. I'll give it a go...........One day! 😉
Excellent advice. I am definitely a list maker, especially during stressful times.
Oh yes, I am totally with you on it helping to manage stress. Right now I'm using it more because I don't have enough to stress me out, haha! But I know I resort to it when I get overwhelmed with how much I need to get done, as well. Just knowing you really are getting at least one thing done at a time off your list is very rewarding in a multitude of ways!
Fitness, ugh.
I haven't been active since mustering out of the military over a decade ago. I realize its benefits and applaud you for your dedication. Keep it up your lifelong and you'll be healthier for it.
Haha, well I work in the fitness industry so I need to practice what I preach. There are definitely days where it feels like a chore, but I have never regretted a workout once it was done! I do tend to enjoy the process, but even more I know how I feel when I fall off the routine and that motivates me more than anything. I start getting grumpy when I haven't run for a while. ;)
I believe making a list keeping us in focus and the feeling of crossing out one item at a time is truly amazing. I feel accomplished even if I just got one thing done :-)
Absolutely. I didn't get everything on my list checked off today, but I got the important things done which for today was enough. :)
Running definitely does positive things to the mind and body. I do 3km every day at lunch time on my break. In a great mood then going back to work . #steemitbloggers
Ooh nice, that's a great lunch time habit! I teach a few corporate fitness classes at lunch time and everyone always really enjoys the active break in the middle of the day.
