[Iceland Summer #15] I returned to northern Iceland to mark Rba's territory in the crater, 'Hverfjall'!!
You may be richer than me,
but you will never be free like me

'Capitalism'
I traveled to the Snæfells Peninsular, west of Iceland, and then turned north again. Why?

Do you remember this place?
This is the crater 'Hverfjall' located in Myvatn. Because I thought I'd regret it if I didn't go back to this place and make something out of stone. I had 3 days left in this trip.
So I've been here for a day, and I've been to the capital city of Reykjavik for a night or I stayed there before, so I could just visit and leave to the airport.

The beginning of today's journey is 'Borgarnes'. It's a city that connects the capital, Reykjavik, the western Snæfells Peninsula, and northern Iceland, as I've introduced before. Here I had breakfast, took a break, and then started moving back to the north.

The weather was really nice. It was even better because I could feel the nature of summer. Small flowers blooming here and there, blue sky and clear air.

I've reached the northern main city, 'Akureyri' from the western Snæfells Peninsula. A couple who just started a trip to Iceland, gave me a ride. They said they are going to go around Iceland clockwise as opposed to my trip.

Next up was 'Akureyri' to 'Godafoss'. He showed me something which smelled strange and asked me if I knew what it was. It seemed to be a chewing cigarette. I thought it was drugs because I'd never seen it before. Anyway, smell was very strange for me.

'Godafoss' is one of the most popular waterfalls in Iceland's tourist guidebooks. It is located in the north between Akureyri and Myvatn. You can also go down and enjoy the water flowing down the waterfalls.

There was a souvenir shop and cafe here. It's not that big. It's a tourist attraction that feels like a small vacation spot.

They were selling food, so I looked around the menu for a while. Oh, there was the free wifi password. I thought it's good to use the internet for a while.
First of all, the lunch buffet is 2,990 kroner, which is about 24 USD. As it says, they offer soup, bread, salad. The soup and salad are 1,750 krones(14 USD), which are quite expensive.

I kept going to the Myvatn. A couple of camping cars gave me a ride. I was folding the table and I broke something. They said, "It's gonna be okay." But maybe because of me, they paid some money to the rental car company. "I'm sorry".

Oh! There was something I didn't introduce you about the lake in Myvatn. I heard that there are a lot of salmon living in this lake. In order to fish here, need a special government permit, which costs as much as about 2700 USD per day.

We've arrived at the crater Hverfjall, our destination in Myvatn. They gave me a ride to the crater. Many people had made various patterns of stone in this crater, but they said, "There may be fines because it's a cultural heritage." Well, it sounds like they're right... so the truth was, I didn't even use plastic bags that I prepared to move stones to prepare for this. I was timid.

I made a dog, the mark of my trip. It looks like nothing in the picture. Most of the stones over there are large stones that can be moved by 2 hands. It took 3 hours just to make this...
I was going to make it really big and get famous. Hmm... well, on reflection, didn't the artists who scribbled graffitis on the subway, wanted to make themselves famous? But it's a crime problem. I was very timid about it.
But when you go there, you can see many people made their meaningful patterns and initials.
Next time, I'll be more courageous and come back with a bigger symbol!
