무상, 시간의 흐름

괴로움이 지나가듯 기쁨 또한 지나간다...

행운이 너에게 미소를 짓고
하루하루가 환희와 기쁨으로 가득 차
근심 걱정 없는 날들이 스쳐갈 때면
세속의 기쁨에 젖어 안식하지 않도록
이 말을 깊이 생각하고 가슴에 품어라.
'이것 또한 지나가리라'

When fortune smiles, and
full of mirth and pleasure,
The days are flitting by without a care,
Lest you should rest with only earthly treasure,
Let these few words their fullest import! bear:
'This, too, shall pass away.

너의 진실한 노력이 명예와 영광
그리고 지상의 모든 귀한 것들을
네게 가져와 웃음을 선사할 때면
인생에서 가장 오래 지속될 일도, 가장 웅대한 일도
지상에서 잠깐 스쳐가는 한순간에 불과함을 기억하라.
'이것 또한 지나가리라.'

When earnest labor brings you fame and glory,
And all earth's noblest ones upon you smile,
Remember that life's longest, grandest story
Fills but a moment in earth's little while:
'This, too, shall pass away'
