Castillo Mundo King - leftover shots

in #art6 years ago (edited)

This will be the final section on the Castillo Mundo King in Sosua, Dominican Republic. The shots I have left didn't seem to fit into any particular category but I think they are worth seeing.

Strange Museum

For those of you just joining us: The Castillo Mundo King is an unofficial museum where a potentially nuts rich guy collected a bunch of bizarre yet interesting works of art in his palace overlooking the commoners below.

Over the course of many years he continues to accumulate more and more items as well as grow his castle further and further into the sky. By the time he died it was 5 stories tall and solid as a rock. There was exposed rebar on the roofs indicating that he had intended to keep going upward.

He was fascinated with the macabre, was a conspiracy theorist, and definitely believed in extra-terrestrial life. Some of his work would indicate that he was visited by them, or at least believes that he was. You can find his UFO stuff here and the forbidden room photos are here

What i am posting now are just the leftovers from my tour

this is the view from a balcony near the bedroom where Rolf could admire all of his sculptures and carvings in the marble courtyard below

backyard collection of statues - i like it because the light came through making it look extra creepy

Rolf had a tendency to ramble in his written word pieces.

Rolf, I think, considered himself to be royalty of some sort, either that or he was preparing several thrones around his palace for the Mundo King. It is easy to understand how someone could have an air of superiority when he was literally "higher" than all the other people in the land

Well, that is it, I have shown all the Mundo King stuff that I intend to. The place was spooky for sure but also immensely interesting. I can only wonder what it was like back when people were living here and when it briefly served as an art school - I can't find any information on that but i will keep looking.

Man the things I find on this blockchain discovered and shared by the people I follow and support are amazing! Hard to be bored and uninspired when there are countless places like this in the world.

I might just have to carve me a throne!
