Thoth Transparency Post for December 2025
We're about mid-way through another month, so it's time for another Thoth transparency post.
In the last 30 days, as a result of Thoth beneficiary settings, the blockchain has distributed 294 STEEM to 171 authors, 388 STEEM to 11 delegators, and it has burned 228 STEEM. The @thoth.test account has collected 268 SP in curation rewards.
Since the project launch, the blockchain has used Thoth beneficiary settings to distribute 1,110 STEEM to 752 authors, 1,153 STEEM to 18 delegators, and it has burned 784 STEEM. The @thoth.test account has collected 908 SP in curation rewards.
As a reminder, Thoth is an open source AI curation experiment that intends to align incentives for authors and delegators so that profitable delegation is possible without compromising the value of the core investment. It provides a mechanism for the Steem blockchain to deliver #lifetime-rewards to the authors of the posts that it curates, and #passive-rewards to delegators. See the "Appendix" section of this post for more about it.
For caveats, see last month's post. The bottom line is that all of the numbers in this post should be considered estimates, not exact values. They are subject to known and unknown sources of error.
Here is a summary table with estimates:
| All time | 30 days | |
|---|---|---|
| Total beneficiary payouts (STEEM * 2 ) | 3,048 STEEM | 910 STEEM |
| Burned beneficiary rewards ( STEEM * 2 ) | 784 STEEM | 228 STEEM |

Conclusion
Overall, the Thoth project continues to demonstrate modest growth. If you want to help support a #lifetime-reward stream for Steem's past and present authors, #burnsteem25, and #passive-rewards for value-oriented delegators, please consider following the @thoth.test account and voting for its posts and/or comments when it uncovers interesting articles.
Thoth's posts can also be used to find interesting articles to read and authors to follow, so even if you're not a steady curator, you might want to follow the @thoth.test account in order to inject some variety into your feed.
If you want to help develop it, or just look over the code, the repo is here.
Appendix
In case you're not familiar with Thoth, I went to ChatGPT for a neutral point of view and asked it to tell me about the Thoth project. Here's what it said:
The Thoth project on the Steem blockchain appears to be an open-source AI-driven curation bot and content-rewarding initiative rather than a formal token or separate blockchain. Here’s a summary of what it is and how it works:
🧠 What the Thoth Project Is
Thoth is a curation engine/bot built to run on the Steem blockchain that uses AI (large language model integration) to identify, summarize, and curate quality content posted on Steem. It then publishes curated summary posts directly onto the blockchain and distributes rewards according to preconfigured beneficiary settings. (GitHub)
📌 Key Features
• AI-Driven Curation:
Thoth scans Steem posts based on operator-defined preferences and uses an LLM API to evaluate whether content is worth curating. For selected posts, it generates summaries and links, then creates a structured post with child replies summarizing each curated item. (GitHub)• Reward Distribution:
When Thoth publishes its curated posts, the reward payout can be configured to allocate beneficiary rewards to:
- the original authors of curated posts
- delegators who support the Thoth account’s influence (Steem Power)
- the Thoth account itself
- or even burn rewards via @null if desired. This lets token holders and delegators potentially earn passive rewards by supporting the bot. (GitHub)
• Delegator Support:
Thoth’s effectiveness and reward potential depend on the amount of Steem Power delegated to its account, as this gives it greater influence over reward payouts and curation weight on Steem. Posts about Thoth emphasize that delegator contributions are important for finding and rewarding attractive content. (SteemPro)• Community Project Nature:
Thoth is described as an open-source hobby project on Steem, developed and shared by contributors (e.g., the GitHub repository under remlaps/Thoth). Users have discussed it on Steem and related social feeds as an initiative offering “lifetime rewards for Steem creators and passive rewards for delegators.” (X (formerly Twitter))🧩 How It Fits on Steem
Steem itself is a social blockchain where content creation and curation are rewarded in cryptocurrency — primarily STEEM, Steem Power (SP), and sometimes Steem Blockchain Dollars (SBD) — and where users’ actions like posting and voting influence rewards. (Steem)
Thoth functions within that ecosystem by automating a form of community curation using AI to elevate notable content and distribute blockchain reward payouts according to configured settings.
