Thoth transparency post for March 2026
Thoth Overview
(this section is repeated from previous months)
Thoth was first described in the post, Here is a complete framework for a Generation-5 voting service..
Without repeating too much detail about the project, I think the key incentive changes that power Thoth to improve the ecosystem are these:
- Every post creates a self-contained team whose individual interests are in alignment.
- Self-votes are transformed into mutual aid.
- Authors can receive rewards for their already existing posts for as long as the blockchain keeps running.
- Delegators (sponsors) can receive rewards without a need for daily posting.
- Thoth offers a step in the direction towards Jaron Lanier's concept of data dignity - the idea that when AI derives benefits from a human's creativity, the original creator should receive a share of the benefits. (IMO, this capability of the Steem blockchain is extremely underappreciated.)
Additionally, Thoth tries to comply with the suggestions in this draft netiquette proposal for Steem automatons.
Summary for March
Mid-March is time for another Thoth transparency post, so here we go.
In the last 30 days, as a result of Thoth beneficiary settings, the blockchain has distributed 617 STEEM to 128 authors, 825 STEEM to 12 delegators, and it has burned 484 STEEM. The @thoth.test account has collected 702 SP in curation rewards.
Since the project launch, the blockchain has used Thoth beneficiary settings to distribute 2,540 STEEM to 826 authors, 3,136 STEEM to 19 delegators, and it has burned 1,924 STEEM. The @thoth.test account has collected 2,336 SP in curation rewards.

Conclusion / Acknowledgements
Let me start by saying thank you to the delegators who are making this proof of concept possible and the authors who create the content that Thoth is uncovering.
My continued experience with this project has convinced me that the Steem blockchain has a vital and unique role to play in the future of Artificial Intelligence technologies. Steem offers a capability that - to my knowledge - is not available to AIs (or people) on any other mainstream platform. None of the mainstream blockchain platforms offer a capability for authors to get rewarded directly by the blockchain for their creativity (not counting copycat chains), and none of the mainstream blogging platforms offer the native capability to direct rewards towards multiple participants in the value chain.
After nearly a year of Thoth operation, it is becoming clear that only Steem offers the unique ability for AI to identify valuable content; ensure that authors receive continuing rewards for the lasting value that accrues from their creativity; and promote passive growth for investors in terms of both value and stake.
