First, the roof lintel is thoroughly cleaned to remove any dust or debris. This prepared mixture is laid on the roof in a 3- to 4-inch thickness, creating a slope. The slope is necessary to prevent rainwater from stagnation and drain directly through the pipes. After the clay layer dries, thin brick tiles are laid on it, and their joints are filled with cement mortar.
This is much cheaper than modern chemical waterproofing because the materials used are locally available. Waterproofing: If done with the correct slope, it completely prevents roof leaks. Durability: Once done correctly, the mixture work lasts for 15-20 years.
