POLL: Are You, is your posts, Visible?

You can get up to all sorts of strange antics, spend hours or even days working on a post, taking photos, painting, asking AI to make your story look better, having AI write comments, using Google Translate to make your post accessible to a wider audience, and yet you still don’t receive a single upvote. There are various reasons for this, and one of the biggest is that you’re simply not visible to other Steemians.
Of course, anyone can check the main feed on steemit.com to see what new posts are up, but the plain truth is that these appear under ‘Trending’, so what do you see first? All those posts with high vote counts, often from voting bots or whales, and indeed, the content leaves a lot to be desired and certainly doesn’t live up to what’s been preached: quality content is rewarded! Indeed, quality rather than quantity, because that’s seen as spam! To what extent is this true? In reality, it isn’t, because the more often your name appears, the greater the chance that it will be remembered and… that you might actually be read and get that upvote.

It’s certainly bitter when you spend many hours active on and for Steemit and just watch as all the votes pass you by, whilst newcomers receive high votes or immediately start begging the ‘whales’ for upvotes. Then you might well ask yourself, along with me, how it is possible that such a newcomer knows the ropes right from day one and shamelessly, using AI, begs for votes without writing a single word, and actually receives them.

If you don’t want to stoop to these kinds of practices, no brown-nosing, no scamming, no letting AI do your work for you, then, if you have any pride at all, you’ll have to make yourself visible. This means connecting with other platform users and writing genuine comments, using a catchy title and the right hashtags so you can be found amongst those thousands of posts!

To be honest, I never use the Steemit feed and rarely even look at the people I used to follow. For years, I couldn’t even see this on my phone. So I know by name the people I find interesting and know where they post.

Incidentally, there are people who don’t mind if you find something worth reading or looking at and then leave a link to your post or mention them.

Now that I’ve mentioned mentions, bear in mind that many people never check their notifications or reply when they’re mentioned. Those who do can quickly find themselves short of time to reply to everything. And yes, you might get overlooked or receive a reply much later than expected.

Steemit is social media, and posting and replying should remain fun and not cause any stress.

Are you visible? How active and original are you? Do you pay just as much attention to your titles as to your text, and are your photos worth looking at? Are the hashtags you use relevant and unique? Have you ever checked how many posts pop up when you click on one of your links?

Like it or not: Steemit was never intended as a replacement for work, but as a way to connect with others, something from which you might also benefit in your real life.

Prize:

The best-reasoned comment will receive 20 SP from me. For this to happen, at least 6 people must reply. No AI generated text or AI brainstorming.

I remember how invisible and frustrated I felt in my early days. I got off on the wrong foot, because for privacy reasons I didn't want to publish the tasks given to beginners.

Perhaps due to past abuses, they thought it was a good idea to force new users to post a photo of their face while holding a handwritten note with their username and the date. I found it bizarre.

And also, I posted my introductory post on my blog, another mistake. I think the first person who noticed me was @wakeupkitty, who commented on a post in the new community.

Because of the emptiness, I left the platform for many months. Then I returned and had better luck, as I found a community where I could publish creative writing.

I honestly started because I wanted to earn something for the future, but as you say, this shouldn't be considered a job. Now I see it as a way to exercise my mind through writing.

Fortunately, I also found some people with whom I could have frank exchanges of opinions, which is hard to find on social media, making it worthwhile to be here.

Regarding visibility, I can't complain, but to be honest, I know that the number of votes isn't usually correlated with quality or even effort. But that's society.

Now, I confess that I don't dedicate time to discovering new users, and I think I should change that, considering that I was also - am - new, and that we need to think about how important that first vote is.

It is easy to visit the newcomers community or simply click on #newcomer. Right now there als newcomers joining CCC so it easy to reach out to them and read, leave a comment and your vite no matter if it 0 or more.what counts is to know if what you wrote is appreciated and if you ask most posts are read sooner or later and do not sink into the swamp after seven days like @evagavilan remarked.

Like you I received help after a very long time and been drilled to also read and comment and vote. If it comes to voting it indeed isn't related to the quality of a post. In average we give the vote to someone we like and in rare occasion to a few we do believe wrote some great which can be a quite, a poem, a long take or helpful comment. Next to that good photos and art deserve upvotes since although it doesn't always looks like it, but there's a lot of work invested in it (well, in average it is the case especially if AI isn't used like @bambuka remarked at an earlier poll).

I am sure you know what increased your visibility.
I hope there will be a time we all can save for the (nearest) future although Inam sure the governments will try to avoid that.

Thanks for your comment. Indo believe this is an inspiring one.

Soy esa sombra

Nunca he recibido votos negativos.

I’m curious to know what you mean by ‘the system’. I assume you mean the part of the platform where we are and where Steem curators are active – the part where rules have to be followed, rules that were mostly imposed by moderators in the past. I think it’s good to do only what you want to do, especially as this is your own time, and when it comes down to it, no one can lay claim to it – or only a select group can.
I hope that having something in common provides enough satisfaction and that a time will come when friends and like-minded people can meet. Free from fear and worry.

Saludos amiga Kitty 🙋🏽‍♀️😸

#art #food #reflection #culture #history #geography #recipes #DIY #sewing #writing #nature #flowers #drawing . Estás son mis etiquetas favoritas.

Algo que he disfrutado, porque en mis comentarios he recibido votos más nutridos que en mi publicaciones 😂😂😂😂. En fin, disfruto cada experiencia.

Yes, I receive votes. I have no complaint about anything. No one can waste my time because I waste my time myself. No one can exploit me because I have nothing to give anyone.

I am a lazy and a crazy man. Cheers!

Good to hear that you are satisfied, do receive votes and even comments. Who knows being crazy (and lazy) works out great.

Thanks for your comment, and like always the good laugh.

Saludos.
