POLL: Are You, is your posts, Visible?

You can get up to all sorts of strange antics, spend hours or even days working on a post, taking photos, painting, asking AI to make your story look better, having AI write comments, using Google Translate to make your post accessible to a wider audience, and yet you still don’t receive a single upvote. There are various reasons for this, and one of the biggest is that you’re simply not visible to other Steemians.
Of course, anyone can check the main feed on steemit.com to see what new posts are up, but the plain truth is that these appear under ‘Trending’, so what do you see first? All those posts with high vote counts, often from voting bots or whales, and indeed, the content leaves a lot to be desired and certainly doesn’t live up to what’s been preached: quality content is rewarded! Indeed, quality rather than quantity, because that’s seen as spam! To what extent is this true? In reality, it isn’t, because the more often your name appears, the greater the chance that it will be remembered and… that you might actually be read and get that upvote.
It’s certainly bitter when you spend many hours active on and for Steemit and just watch as all the votes pass you by, whilst newcomers receive high votes or immediately start begging the ‘whales’ for upvotes. Then you might well ask yourself, along with me, how it is possible that such a newcomer knows the ropes right from day one and shamelessly, using AI, begs for votes without writing a single word, and actually receives them.
If you don’t want to stoop to these kinds of practices, no brown-nosing, no scamming, no letting AI do your work for you, then, if you have any pride at all, you’ll have to make yourself visible. This means connecting with other platform users and writing genuine comments, using a catchy title and the right hashtags so you can be found amongst those thousands of posts!
To be honest, I never use the Steemit feed and rarely even look at the people I used to follow. For years, I couldn’t even see this on my phone. So I know by name the people I find interesting and know where they post.
Incidentally, there are people who don’t mind if you find something worth reading or looking at and then leave a link to your post or mention them.
Now that I’ve mentioned mentions, bear in mind that many people never check their notifications or reply when they’re mentioned. Those who do can quickly find themselves short of time to reply to everything. And yes, you might get overlooked or receive a reply much later than expected.
Steemit is social media, and posting and replying should remain fun and not cause any stress.
Are you visible? How active and original are you? Do you pay just as much attention to your titles as to your text, and are your photos worth looking at? Are the hashtags you use relevant and unique? Have you ever checked how many posts pop up when you click on one of your links?
Like it or not: Steemit was never intended as a replacement for work, but as a way to connect with others, something from which you might also benefit in your real life.
Prize:
The best-reasoned comment will receive 20 SP from me. For this to happen, at least 6 people must reply. No AI generated text or AI brainstorming.

You’re the first person to mention the image, and I think that’s brilliant. We’re supposed to be anonymous, but instead we’re literally laying ourselves bare. That’s not something everyone’s comfortable with, but a good example is the diary game, where people’s activities are described in detail and photos of the whole family – including the children – are posted. Imagine us standing there like prisoners with a sign in our hands, whilst it’s literally explained what our parents do, who our brothers and sisters are, what their names are and where they live. I don’t think this belongs on social media, nor do I think everything should be monitored and all that data stored forever – because that is the case – and I’m not even talking about the IP address and the serial number of the device you’re using. That’s not how Steemit was ever set up; this wasn’t the intention. I do understand it, but the biggest abusers of the platform aren’t, of course, dealt with in this way, because they’re powerful and nobody wants to be bullied out of the platform by downvotes.
I’m sure you’re in the spotlight, if only because you’re a curator; everyone wants to be your friend and votes for your posts to get a share of your earnings. There are people who make a fortune from this without ever posting anything.
Otherwise, you’re right. However you present yourself – or choose not to – what we see is merely the shadow cast by a person. This can be real or fake. Still, I agree with you and @lunasilverv that there’s a lot of rubbish to read here; the genuine connections are good and last for years. I still have them, even though those people have since moved on.
A certain addiction to writing, art and the platform also plays a part.
I’m still glad to be here. If I don’t feel like it anymore, I’ll just stop.
It’s not as promised, but that doesn’t mean that I – or we – can’t create that right where we are now.
Thanks for your comment.

Thank you so much for your support dear @jimiaera02 @steemcurator05
It is good to see you appreciate comments as much as I do.
I wish you a super week!
I remember how invisible and frustrated I felt in my early days. I got off on the wrong foot, because for privacy reasons I didn't want to publish the tasks given to beginners.
Perhaps due to past abuses, they thought it was a good idea to force new users to post a photo of their face while holding a handwritten note with their username and the date. I found it bizarre.
And also, I posted my introductory post on my blog, another mistake. I think the first person who noticed me was @wakeupkitty, who commented on a post in the new community.
Because of the emptiness, I left the platform for many months. Then I returned and had better luck, as I found a community where I could publish creative writing.
I honestly started because I wanted to earn something for the future, but as you say, this shouldn't be considered a job. Now I see it as a way to exercise my mind through writing.
Fortunately, I also found some people with whom I could have frank exchanges of opinions, which is hard to find on social media, making it worthwhile to be here.
Regarding visibility, I can't complain, but to be honest, I know that the number of votes isn't usually correlated with quality or even effort. But that's society.
Now, I confess that I don't dedicate time to discovering new users, and I think I should change that, considering that I was also - am - new, and that we need to think about how important that first vote is.

Who cares about ego in public? Everyone wants to get fame, but this is possible for very few people. Most people work hard for a long time, but it is very difficult to get the reward. I have worked on Steemit for a long time and I also felt that the reward for hard work here is very difficult. I stopped using Steemit a while ago because I did not feel any attraction in it, but there was a time when the Steem dollar rates suddenly increased and when I cashed out my savings, it became a handsome amount. After that, I became excited and excited and I entered Steemit again with enthusiasm. It is a fact that to be visible on Steemit, you have to work hard and save the different opportunities and scenes around you in the camera so that we can also participate in various Steemit competitions and also present our own content. For this, I often use the memory of my mobile. I keep clearing my space so that I can collect the best photos to create new content. My family members are often surprised by my behavior that I often take photos of things that my family members find useless, while I find all those photos perfect for my Steemit competitions, such as a picture of a shadow. I have started to feel very interested in taking pictures of different types of shadows and I have also started noticing shadows that I never considered important before. This time too, it is absolutely true that commenting on other people's posts and improving yourself by reading their posts is a great practice and is also great for coming into the eyes of others. After using Steemit, I found a great change in myself that not only has it become easier for me to read English, but now I also write a lot in English, whereas earlier I used to speak and write only in my mother tongue.

That's right, sometimes hard work doesn't get the reward we think we deserve, but the good thing is that we can still have the satisfaction of doing well even if we aren't rewarded.
I also hope, of course, that the platform will become more equitable over time, and I think we can have a little influence on that by helping those who are starting out and increasing our SP to give valuable votes. For now my vote is worth zero, but I hope that will change over time.Greetings, and I hope you can buy your refrigerator!

But I'm surprised that there's so much to demotivate about. Just a while ago, I got a message from Curator Nine saying he was withdrawing his vote because I had set my Steem value to Power Down. As I mentioned earlier, I have to buy a fridge and I'm running out of money, so I decided to take out my Steem dollars and spend them, but this reaction is too much to break my spirit.
Sorry, we had to take back out vote since you are in powerdown!
I couldn't understand the reason for withdrawing your vote because I wanted to cash out my Steam Dollars. I desperately need money and I want to use this money to buy a refrigerator in my house. It's a very hot summer and my refrigerator is broken. I had also written about this in my Steam It post that I was getting the refrigerator fixed, but it still didn't work. That's why I wanted to use my savings saved on Steam It and buy a new refrigerator, but you broke my heart by withdrawing your vote.
It is easy to visit the newcomers community or simply click on #newcomer. Right now there als newcomers joining CCC so it easy to reach out to them and read, leave a comment and your vite no matter if it 0 or more.what counts is to know if what you wrote is appreciated and if you ask most posts are read sooner or later and do not sink into the swamp after seven days like @evagavilan remarked.
Like you I received help after a very long time and been drilled to also read and comment and vote. If it comes to voting it indeed isn't related to the quality of a post. In average we give the vote to someone we like and in rare occasion to a few we do believe wrote some great which can be a quite, a poem, a long take or helpful comment. Next to that good photos and art deserve upvotes since although it doesn't always looks like it, but there's a lot of work invested in it (well, in average it is the case especially if AI isn't used like @bambuka remarked at an earlier poll).
Like you and many others I never went through that newcomers achievement program and I doubt I would have done that since Steemit was meant to be a safe place, meant to be anonymous and bring people into great danger.
I understand why step was taken to fight scammers and still communities exist where people have to go through a second check. If you ask me this is by now something out of the past and no longer needed, which is good.
If it comes to scammers, a users of the system and AI posters more steps should be taken but Inam afraid those small ones aren't biggest abusers of the system.
I am sure you know what increased your visibility.
I hope there will be a time we all can save for the (nearest) future although Inam sure the governments will try to avoid that.

I find it inspiring that you feel there’s hope and that we’ll see changes in the near future. That inspires me!
At one point, my account reached some “inspiring” numbers, and I chose not to withdraw anything so I could keep growing. Today, there’s barely a trace left—one that’s threatening to disappear—but I’m still here. Through thick and thin. I hope this decision turns out to be the right one.
Only time will tell.
I really appreciate this initiative for sharing opinions and learning more.

Nunca he recibido votos negativos.

I’m curious to know what you mean by ‘the system’. I assume you mean the part of the platform where we are and where Steem curators are active – the part where rules have to be followed, rules that were mostly imposed by moderators in the past. I think it’s good to do only what you want to do, especially as this is your own time, and when it comes down to it, no one can lay claim to it – or only a select group can.
I hope that having something in common provides enough satisfaction and that a time will come when friends and like-minded people can meet. Free from fear and worry.
Exactly, I was referring to the “system” that Steemit uses, which affects some people more than others.
I, too, hope that having something in common will be strong enough to make a difference, so that we'll soon see results that motivate us.

#art #food #reflection #culture #history #geography #recipes #DIY #sewing #writing #nature #flowers #drawing .

In any case, you’re living proof that it’s definitely worth posting comments, as it helps you make connections and, as a result, earn upvotes. The upvotes for comments could indeed be a bit higher, as they’re essential for raising the platform’s profile.
As for being overlooked: almost everyone has experienced that at some point. As soon as there’s something to be gained or earned, you suddenly see loads of people automatically voting for you. High earnings can be generated without actually writing anything. I was once laughed at because I don’t yet earn 10 SBI dollars a month by voting for others. This is because I mainly vote for small accounts – which are small partly because their Steem is withdrawn whilst mine remains in my account.
So it’s smarter to vote for the rich and get a share of their earnings.

This is a really good write up.
You covered a lot of grey areas, which is enlightening.
I would not say the newcomers need this more because we have some folks who have been around for a while and they barely know how to navigate the community.
This was the same for me when I started, and even after few years of being dedicated to the community.
But as they say, being consistent is the key.
Over the years, I have been able to create awareness and changed my way of communicating many times so that I can reach out to people properly.
There is still more to be done, more connections to be made, more communities to explore and more comments too.
This will give opportunity for steemians to share their experiences and those with a concern or more can open up.
Yes, I am voted.
And I expect more votes too, but I try to focus on giving a good output. It gives me joy when I see people enjoy and benefit from my post. That's the essence for me, even when the upvote is not as encouraging as I expect.
With this in mind, I hope we all share in this ideas so we can build a lasting community.

Like you I figured most out myself. I remember those clubs started and for some reason people left CCC to go to??? Next many grew and I remember I asked someone about the clubs but never understood the explanation but also good never be in one since I paid the prizes for contests in Steem. Today a club no longer matters, same for all the tries like burning Steem.
I agree with you that those who has to find their way themselves are in average the long lasting and loyal Steemians. They post even without an upvote and because they like it.
It isn't always easy to be present and to comment, but for the biggest part this can be learned and becomes a habit.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.

You reputation only goes up if you connect and people remember you. I never did so before you started posting in CCC and only because I invest time checking every post and can remember names.
Btw not only upvotes make your level go up so does receiving comments and buying and hold steem!
I wonder if that is true. It might be visible to those tired of all those Canva and AI generated pictures. And you have something to tell.
I have been on Steemit for a while. Initially, I was disappointed and dismayed that my posts didn’t receive the same attention as some posts, which in my opinion are not as good as mine. After a while, I accepted that that’s how it is here on Steemit. Sometimes, it is not what you put out, but who you know. Since I do not know any whales, I don’t get the big votes. I could invest in Steemit and give myself big votes like some. But nah… In the end, I just plod on without concerning myself with who to please, or how to get big votes. Any returns I get from my posts are bonuses. Of course, it makes me happy and I am extremely pleased when curators consider my posts worthy of a vote.
I would have left a long time ago, if not for the fact (I mentioned this before), that I had time and posting gives me a chance to improve my writing and English. Language, as we know, if you don’t use it, you will lose it.

Just like you, I don’t see the point in buying large quantities of Steem just to give myself loads of upvotes. Incidentally, in the early years I never really understood how to buy or sell Steem. It’s not that easy here, and now it’s almost impossible. The government is doing everything it can to stop people from investing in crypto, even though we’ll all soon be forced to use the digital euro (and then our savings and wages will be gone without a trace).
I’m glad to hear that there are still curators who’ve discovered you. I think this is the main reason why no upvotes are being given. If you’re not visible and a Steem curator never looks beyond the few people he knows – and never reads anything – then the upvotes will never reach a wider audience.
To be honest, I don’t believe the average curator reads or is even willing to translate text.
I wish you all the best, and yes, it really is a lovely way to keep up with a language…

It's not easy to buy and sell Steem in my country too. I don't know how the others here who are on Steemit do it. But I managed to find a way to do that. I don't know if it is the right way. I send my Steem to an exchange - swap it for a crypto coin I like and then transfer it to my local crypto account. By the time the crypto reach me, I believe it has lost quite a bit of its value.
Anyway, however much is left at the end, it is a bonus from my efforts of Steemit, which I have no expectations.
Best wishes to you here on Steemit too. Cheers!

That's it. The returns from our work are already so little. By the time we swap here, swap there, the remainer of the returns is not much. Seems hardly worth the trouble.
That is how it is. Maybe that is why people left.
I completely agree with you that by commenting on other people's posts and reading their posts, a person's mental experience not only increases, but he really appears active in front of others. For this, it is important that we bring change within ourselves and create the best comments and the best content to be visible. Focus on quality instead of quantity so that one post is heavier than 10. I myself need to bring change within myself because I also want to be visible.

When I see others sharing about there struggles after joining steemit, my story is absolutely different to them. Yes, kitty I agree with you and trust me I never rush myself to earn or gain more from steemit, everything just come to me it's way and you are right that how a social media works. It's true that I comment less, read less here and my focus is always holding consistency. At the very beginning I got enough love and support from sc01 and sc02 whenever I took part in steemit contests so I never felt like ignored or something like that and maybe that's why I'm still here holding consistency. Daily a single blog share is my aim to feel my existence in this platform and I do this for my self satisfaction and I don't rush. Earning big feels definitely good but I don't complain when I earn less. For example, when I power down two years ago in 2024, it took me more than a year to reach 5k or a single dolphin club, that time felt like I'm ignored but I prioritize holding consistency not the faster growth after a 20k sp power down.
Anyways, I started this conversation with the poll answer and not sure If I missed anything to share or not. If so, let me know in reply, I'm here to continue this conversation and I loved it!

I believe consistency is the key. There's no need to post daily as long as they know you are active, which can also be done by commenting.
You for sure will make it but it is a long road being a killer whale and have enough SP to give a decent upvote.
I know I cannot do more than I already do which is a really too much.
Posting 3-4 times a week is enough for me. It might be fewer if I like to paint more.
Thanks for replying and have a super weekend!

Have a great weekend to you, my week start at Saturday which means today! I do post daily that's make me feel good, I don't rush and honestly I don't comment much even honestly I'm lazy on commenting and replying! But a cool convo with friends like you can be fun! Thanks kitty, my friend 🫰😇🦋

I do comment since it is good to receive a message from.someone, and to know if anyone likes what you wrote even if it is after weeks or months. A bit like a message in a bottle or the post delivering a lost letter.
My week starts tomorrow, so on Sunday. I made clean ship today while spending hours in a train.
Thanks again for the reply and fun, it is good to have you for a friend.
