Smart, Safe, and Fair: How AI Can Help Take Care of Kids

in #ccs3 days ago

I brief overview of the research I wish to go into during my PhD programme. These is a simple and clear details of the idea which I will want to discuss with my proposed supervisor.

We start with child-centric health monitoring, which means using tools like smartwatches or apps to track things like sleep, heart rate, or mood. These tools help doctors and parents spot health issues early, even from home.

Next, we explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) smart computer programs that learn from data and make helpful predictions. For example, AI might notice poor sleep patterns and suggest healthier habits.

Then comes Federated Learning, a privacy-friendly way for AI to learn from many hospitals or devices without sharing anyone’s personal data. Each place trains the AI locally and only shares what it learned not the actual health records.

Explainable AI is about making sure the AI doesn’t just give answers it explains why it gave those answers. This builds trust and helps doctors, parents, and even kids understand the reasoning behind health suggestions.

We also highlight Ethical and Inclusive Design, which means making sure these systems are fair and helpful to all children regardless of background, ability, or location. It’s about respecting privacy, avoiding bias, and making sure no one is left out.

Finally, Interactive Systems are fun, user-friendly tools like apps or dashboards that kids and parents can use to explore health data. These systems make learning about health engaging and easy to understand.

Together, these ideas show how we can build smart, safe, and fair technology to support pediatric care helping children stay healthy while protecting their privacy and making sure everyone is included.
