Cesar Chavez Is Canceled? Meanwhile George Floyd Monuments Persist
Cesar Chavez, a Latino/Chicano icon in the Western United States workers movements, has had many allegations recently coming out against him. These allegations include abuses towards minors back in the 70s. Key allegations come from Dolores Huerta, Ana Murguia and Debra Rojas. Now, because of this news, liberal advocates are calling for the removal of his monuments and the erasure of his name from public display.
This reminds me of the movement to tear down confederate statues.
What's interesting about this is that the liberals are very quiet about George Floyd still. If the concern was about women's safety, and past crimes, then why do they still have monuments of George Floyd, the person who invaded a Latina's home at gun point with five other men in 2007? The Latina, Aracely Henriquez, had a gun held to her head. . .
Allegations vs verified courts and a criminal conviction for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. . .
I'm seeing a trend.
I'm fine with holding Cesar Chavez accountable. Tear down his monuments over allegations if you must. However, George Floyd's memory deserves far worse treatment.
