Stop China persecuting practitioners of Falun Gong
Practitioners protesting in China
It is probably the largest persecution of a religion in the modern world today. Who would believe that millions of Chinese people who practice the faith of Falun Gong have been fired from their place of work, expelled, tortured and in some cases brutally killed simply because they practice a form of exercise and meditation? Who would have thought that a simple exercise would be feared by the Chinese government and its practitioners persecuted? All around the world with Falun Gong
What is Falun Gong? It quite simply is a Chinese discipline which in part is based upon Buddhism. The essence of which is meditation, moral teachings and exercises. By the way, I use the term exercise in its loose sense of the word as these exercises are not going to leave you exhausted. It is a very effective way to increase your energy levels and improve your all-round health. SO WHY IS ITS PRACTITIONERS BEING PERSECUTED BY THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT?
Throughout the 1990s, Falun Gong gained support from many of the government authorities and agencies in China as an accepted form of meditation practice. In part, it was seen as helping to improve health and morality among other things. In the summer of 1999, an unprecedented campaign of suppression was ordered by the Chinese authorities. Why this should happen in unclear, but Falun Gong fell foul to being a victim of its own success and based upon Chinese atheism and a ruthless communist party dictatorship that feared losing control, a crackdown on the practice was ordered. Since then the ruling party has continuously tried to destroy and eradicate any form of religion that poses a threat to their rule. Several religions today are frowned upon by the authorities and many practitioners run the risk of getting caught if they worship freely in China. Many risk detention, torture and even death if caught. Due to its sheer size of numbers (over 100 million practitioners in China alone) Falun Gong fast became the focus of attention by the Chinese government authorities. Followers of Falun Gong are being persecuted on a daily basis in China and the world needs to know about it and expose what is going on.

Thanks for the good article
Thank you for sharing. This is one more horrific example of how governments are used to criminalize people while not addressing actual crime.
Sorry for delay in getting back to you. I appreciate your response. It is indeed a sad world that we live in when governments attack their own people through fear of losing control. As you rightly point out, addressing actual crime would be much more productive, but I guess persecuting your own people is the easier option. Of course, the Chinese government are not alone in that respect
I understand how comments get lost in the shuffle. The Chinese government certainly is not alone. The U.S. has a reported 25% of the world prison population, yet only 5% of the world population. Though, I believe that prison is a necessary evil, I don't believe any government has really gotten it right, though Norway may be the closest. Perhaps all governments could take a lesson from Norway.
