Learning Is Oxygen
Daybook February 6
Continuous learning sustains human potential only when curiosity, reflection, and self-compassion for beginners are protected.
We often treat learning as something optional—an added skill, a phase to pass through.
Debra K. Pendergast reframes it as oxygen: without it, growth suffocates.
But oxygen flows only when conditions are right.
Curiosity must be allowed.
Mistakes must be tolerated.
Reflection must be protected.
And beginners must be met with compassion—including ourselves.
One life for Nurses and Learners:
Growth needs oxygen, not perfection.
