Understanding Resistance: The Key to Leading Change
Daybook January 15
Change cannot happen without understanding the resistance behind it.
Effective change requires understanding the culture and collaborating with those who resist.
In every organization, change is inevitable.
But not everyone will embrace it at the same pace.
Nurses are often seen as agents of change,
yet they are also some of the most resistant to it.
Why? Because change threatens what we know,
and what we know gives us comfort.
Understanding resistance is key to overcoming it.
Rather than ignoring it, we need to understand it,
work with those who resist, and build a solution together.
This is the only way to truly lead change in nursing education.
One Line for Nurses and Student Nurses Today:
Change is not about forcing new ideas but understanding the resistance and working together to create solutions.
