Daybook February 9

Nursing education must address affective learning through experience and art, reminding nurses of the human being behind every diagnosis.

Much of nursing education focuses on what can be tested: facts, skills, procedures.
Yet some of the most important learning cannot be stored in memory.

The affective dimension—how we perceive, feel, and relate—must be experienced.
Art offers one pathway.

It allows patients to express what words cannot, and helps nurses recognize lived experience behind clinical labels.
This is not decoration in education.

It is a reminder of who nursing is for.

One life for Nurses and Learners:
Humanity in nursing is learned through experience.
