FBI: More People Killed by Hammers, Clubs

than with Rifles of Any Kind
...................................................................................................................................
The most recent FBI crime stats show that more people were killed in 2017 with hammers and clubs than were killed with rifles of any kind.

No one needs an Assault Hammer
You can have my hammer when you take it from my cold, dead hands.
strangest suicide I ever seen
One tough, determined hombre, eh?
Don't forget assault aspirin.....
Aspirin, plain ol aspirin taken as prescribed kills 4 to 6 thousand people in this country a year and most of them are young children.....
got any proof of that?
my research tells me just the opposite.
Aspirin prevents bowel cancer for example...and heart disease.

I didn't see anything about deaths. It only mentioned 'potential'.
Daily aspirin therapy: Understand the benefits and risks
Daily low-dose aspirin can prevent heart attack and stroke but is often misused, from the January 2014 Harvard Heart Letter
about a million more articles.
Can a daily aspirin lower your cancer risk?
Evidence suggests taking a low-dose aspirin (81 milligrams) daily may protect you from developing many types of cancer, including those hardest to treat successfully, says Robert S. Bresalier, M.D., professor of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at MD Anderson.
.
Colon cancer, rectal cancer and prostate cancer are among the most common and life-threatening cancers in the United States, according to the National Cancer Institute. But aspirin use could have a positive impact on your risks for these diseases.
.
“Studies show long-term aspirin use lowers rates of precancerous colorectal polyps and prostate lesions,” Bresalier explains. In fact, taking a low-dose aspirin daily could reduce your colon cancer and rectal cancer risks by as much as 50%.
.
The story is much the same for other common cancers. A study of recovering breast cancer patients found those who took a daily aspirin for three to five years were 60% less likely to suffer from a recurrence of the disease. The aspirin swallowers also were 71% less likely to die as a result of breast cancer.
Aspirin to Reduce Cancer Risk - National Cancer Institute
and about 3 million more results
Yes there are many studies both ways on this. I noted that most of the studies that recommended daily aspirin treatment were authored by doctors that are also paid consultants to the large pharmaceutical companies and even they admit that you would see no potential benefit until 6 years of daily use. Also it was not really my point.
My point was that plain old everyday items we all have contact with on a daily basis, such as aspirin are more deadly to us than those big scary guns.
God I HOPE not. I want my gun to be deadly. If it's not I'll get one that is. That's the whole POINT of carrying a gun. Be deadly to the bad guy.
uh...one other thing.
Since you don't trust studies about medicine that are paid for by those involved with medicine....who do you trust?
Greenpeace?
Greenpeace..... not a chance in hell.
Also my guns all be very deadly as well but not to your average Joe/Jane minding their own non bad guy/gal biz, contrary to what the gun grabbers on the idiot box keep screaming.

Reuters...that would be england?
For 50-year-old men, taking a full-sized, 325 mg aspirin every day to prevent heart disease and stroke carries a risk of 10.4 deaths per 100,000 men per year over and above their overall death risk
the key word is 'risk', not actual deaths. How is that 'risk' calculated? Are there actual deaths to back it up or is it just guess work?
Whenever a journalist uses the words 'might', 'may', 'could', 'potential' or other such weasel words...I don't give it much credibility.
By the way...I was a Truck Driver for 25 years...according to the article I should be dead?
Speaking of 'credibility'.... Huff'n'puff...is not..
friendly advice. Use the following format to make your links look better,
open square bracket title close square braked open parenthesis url close parenthesis, that way you don't run quite the RISK of having people ignore your links.
Maybe....Could be...might...well it depends..
Thanks for the format tip, been away from Steemit for a long time. Had to relearn a bit of the format again.
Sorry for taking this post so far off topic
Don't trust stats that you haven't faked yourself. (Churchill)
Using the term "rifle" renders the whole thing mostly meaningless. Even a shotgun is not classed a rifle. And most fire arm related crimes are commited with pistols, for obvious reasons.
But you can even turn the result around easily, by asking "Which was used more often to commit suicide, rifles or hammers and bats?"
an estimated one and a half million people protect them selves yearly with guns. I'd say that offsets the 30 thousand or so deaths.
But wait...many if not most of those deaths are the BAD GUY....shot by people protecting themself..
BUT WAIT...there's still more....it's not possible to prevent suicide. If a person wants to kill themselves they'll find a way, unless they are locked up under suicide watch (didn't help Epstein did it?)
But WAIT again. Who own's you? If you want to kill yourself who's to say you can't?
several states have 'assisted suicide laws.
one more thang...
a 'rifle' is a long gun with rifling, groves to make the bullet spin, in the barrel.
shotguns are smooth bore (duh)
and finally.
are you saying we can't trust the FBI?
Well, there are also 12 gauge shotguns that have a rifled barrel, but never mind.
I think thats what I said by
What I want to point out is, that the term "rifle" makes the stats insignificant. Of course not so many criminal run around with a rifle, while every idiot can buy a hammer and hide it under the clothes. I bet even a lot more murders are carried out with a knife than with rifles and hammers combined.
Its not the question if a statistic is true or not, its more about how its designed to present a certain scenario.
To the suicides... It is true that someone who is determined to kill himself will find a way to do so, or at least try.
However, the death wish is often a reaction out of desperation in a certain situation. A lot of times "sleeping over it" might change the view of that person again. A gun in easy reach however can cause the person to carry out the suicide too quickly, before having a chance for second thoughts.
no..shot guns do NOT have rifled barrels.
it's no use for shot.
what you might be thinking of is rifled SLUGS. The rifleing is on the projectile...not the gun
the point is that guncontrol not only doesn't work it makes the problem worse.
When guns are outlawed only outlaws will have guns.
update.
you're right. Some shotguns do have rifled barrels. The reason is to comply with the law
Shotguns are often used with rifled barrels in locations where it is not lawful to hunt with a rifle. Typically, a sabot slug is used in these barrels for maximum accuracy and performance.
stupid law.
Really? Well, have a look here, its a great offer:

I believe I mentioned that.
Nice gun.
