I actually have around 109 people that I am following but in truth there are at least 10-15 names that are to be removed from that list and that would bring the number slightly below 100.

I want to follow a lot of people here but the practicality of the situation does not allow for it. Frankly it is difficult keeping track when the number is even close to hundred. I doubt that increasing the number beyond would allow us to be effective followers who add value to other folks journey.

In my understanding the idea is to follow somebodies journey here by actually being a part of it. Which obviously includes deep interactions and mutual benefit. If the number were to increase beyond hundred, it would become difficult to that. Which means that spreading yourself too thin can lead to shallower interactions because you need to cover more people in the same amount of time.

Because we also need to remember that as we are part of other peoples journey, others are a port of our journey too.
