Now, just to be clear, I don't mean a micro-bikini-wearing Instagram babe holding up a can of protein drink or doing ass-enhancing exercises in Tulum.
This started out fairly generic, but I don't know man, it seemed to get more specific at the end there. :)
Or am I just not with it enough to know that most of the Instagram influencers are working out in Tulum now? I've been there a couple of times, and I could definitely see it being run over by wannabe Instagram influencers, much to the detriment of the area.
Good on you for picking your wife. I can't think of a more solid influencer in my life, either, even if, as you said, we don't always agree. That doesn't mean she doesn't have a way of keeping me on the straight and narrow and always becoming a better person.
Yeah I know right? I’ve never been there but I’ve heard that’s where most of the plastic that ends up in the ocean originates. Still, I’ve also heard it’s a safe beach to swim in. No lifeguards needed, everyone has their own personal floatation devices. 🥴

There may be more than one beach. I've only been to the one that's right off the ruins, and it's nice, just not very big. I doubt that's where the plastic is coming from. Yeah, reading a little bit about it, sounds like it's not the Tulum I remember. I was there in 1996 and then again in 2012. Sounds like there's been quite a bit of development since then.
A similar thing happened to Playa Del Carmen up the road (not so much in the trash department, but as far as development goes). While I'm okay with progress, not all of it is necessarily for the best.
I think it's just the fashionable place for the plastic fantastics to go and be photographed. It'll wear off and they'll find somewhere else to take their selfies.
