Super Fresh Salmon Sashimi for Lunch
Just steps from my home, a place I pass daily and often has short line ups is a shop dedicated to fresh Salmon
Usually he has some already sliced and ready to go but it seems its been a busy day and I had to wait for him to slice salmon for other people before he could get to mine. Well worth the wait and he really does do a decent slicing job.
It's not a Japanese restaurant either, it's just a Chinese fresh fish shop, no seats or drinks, just fresh fish you can take home and eat raw it's so fresh, which I did.
Such careful precision, someone who truly cares about the art of slicing raw fish. He must have years of experience. He can do it rather quickly which I suppose is a must when you got a line up.
And then it comes with wasabi and soya sauce and ready to eat on the go. Not exactly the cheapest lunch as I will also to another nearby shop and get some chicken and rice, which is cheap. lol
It's tempting to eat this everyday as it's so good but I do know it's farmed and farmed salmon isn't all that healthy. You tell by the texture, wild salmon meat is a little more firm and less fatty as they spend their life swimming in rivers and fights ocean currents whereas farmed salmon pretty move simply to keep the water flowing through their gills.
Hope you hungry now
That type of Salmon is rather expensive in my country too but surely it tastes good when eaten raw. I'm not into wasabi lol, so I'd rather like that with lemon extract, a little soy sauce and some onions and ginger =)
Wild Salmon has a rather adventurous life cycle compare to farmed ones. In the wild, they swim to the river to lay their eggs and keep them safe until they hatch. The parent Salmon stays there in the river for the rest of its life. When the eggs are hatched juvenile Salmon will have to face the strong current to swim back to the ocean. But not all juvenile Salmon survives that difficult journey. So the Salmon we can find alive in the wild is indeed the best Salmon. They not only taste good but also has a really inspiring life story.
They do have unusual life cycles. There many types of salmon too. Unfortunately Canada's wild salmon stocks are at risk to development and pollution. Male salmons will also eat the eggs of other salmon. Cannibals lol.
Yes, that's true about most type of fish, eating not only eggs but even their own juvenile. so the eggs and juveniles should be separated from the parent fish to survive.
Speaking of weird fish, I have read there's a fish that climbs up the tree and walks on land called Mudskippers. I wonder if this fish is edible too. Got to do some research =)
I love salmon! One of the benefits of living in Sweden is that I can enjoy it quite often. The best salmon comes from the North Sea off the coast of Norway. The Baltic Sea’s salmon is just too polluted with heavy metals…
Sweden really knows its salmon, Ikea in China sells salmon from there, i guess from there, and it's quite popular cured. I hear most of the fresh salmon here comes from Russia and Noway.
it's looking so amazing man...👍
