SLC-S29/W5 | The Gastronomic Shopping Route - Confectionery

Sweet Nougat sweets corner — Les Sucreries Salman (Tunis area)
Hello / Bonjour / Saludos, Steemit!
For this fifth week of the culinary route challenge SLC29-W5 – “La Ruta de Compras Gastronómicas”, the theme is “Confitería”, and I decided to visit a place where sweetness becomes a landscape and colors become a guide, because a good confitería is never just “a candy shop”, it is a small universe of textures, childhood memories, and family moments, and the establishment I chose for this experience is Sweet Nougat – Les Sucreries Salman, a busy sweets corner inside a commercial zone where trays, jars, and bulk displays come together to offer a tempting range of gummies, marshmallows, wrapped candies, traditional pastries, and nut-covered nougat, all arranged in a way that makes you slow down, look closely, and imagine what your perfect sweet mix would be.
My Visit & The Atmosphere
From the moment I approached the counter, I felt that pleasant “market energy” that comes from seeing products displayed in generous quantities, because the full trays and stacked selections create that impression of abundance, while the glass counter and visible price labels add clarity and comfort for shoppers, and as I moved along the display, I noticed how the section naturally tells a story: colorful gummies next to soft marshmallows, marshmallows next to wrapped candies in jars, and jars next to the more “premium” side—traditional pastries and Sweet Nougat pieces topped with pistachio and almonds—which makes the act of shopping feel less like buying random sweets and more like building a complete tasting experience step by step.

What makes this type of space special is that it engages multiple senses at once, because the eye is caught by bright reds, yellows, and soft pastel tones, the nose picks up that familiar sugar-and-nut aroma, and even the simple sound of scoops and packaging reinforces the authenticity of a real confitería experience, so even if you arrive with a simple idea in mind, you often leave with new combinations, new cravings, and a renewed appreciation for how sweets can create instant joy.
Variety of Products (Gummies, Pastries, Nougat & Candy Jars)
The variety here feels broad and practical, because the shop does not limit itself to just one “style” of candy, but offers everything that fits different moods: quick gummies for fun, soft marshmallows for light sweetness, wrapped candies for classic nostalgia, and richer pastries and nougat for tea/coffee moments, and this is exactly what makes a confitería valuable: it is not only a place to buy sugar, it is a place to buy small moments of happiness.

Beyond the “fun” candies, the premium side stands out, because traditional pastries look dense and generous, and the Sweet Nougat pieces immediately feel like the signature identity of the place, especially when you see the nut toppings and the thick textures that promise both crunch and chewiness.

A detail I personally enjoyed is the classic jar section, because wrapped candies in big jars always give that “old-school candy shop” feeling, where you can pick small quantities and create your own nostalgic mix.

Finally, the ready-to-go cups are a smart idea for mall shoppers, because they offer a quick “sweet & salty” snack experience without needing to choose and weigh everything yourself.

Quality & Presentation
Because so many items are displayed openly behind glass, you can judge freshness and texture with your own eyes, and I found the gummies to look shiny rather than dry, the nougat to look dense and well topped, and the pastries to look neatly arranged instead of broken or messy, while the clear labels and organized trays make the experience smooth and practical, especially for customers who want to mix several categories in small quantities rather than buying large packaged sets.
Contest Questions
1) Which product would you recommend from this confitería and why?
The product I would recommend is Sweet Nougat (nougat + nuts), because it looks like the most premium and satisfying option: it combines chewy sweetness with crunchy nut toppings, it feels perfect for tea or coffee moments, and it also works as a great sharing item for family gatherings.
2) Is there any product you didn’t find in this confitería and that you would like to see there?
Yes, I would love to see a small sugar-free section (sugar-free gummies/candies/chocolates), because it would allow more people to enjoy the shop, including those who avoid sugar, and I would also like to see artisan mini chocolate bars with pistachio or hazelnut to match the premium vibe of the nougat selection.
3) How would you rate your experience in relation to quality and price?
Overall, I would rate my experience as very good, because the variety is strong, the presentation is attractive, and the weight-based pricing gives flexibility, so you can build a small budget mix or choose premium items depending on your mood.
