UPCOMING GAMES HORROR FANS WON'T WANT TO MISS

How's it going everyone? In this post we're going to take a look at a few horror games that are currently in development and we can expect to see in the near future. GHOST THEORY

Ghost Theory is game in which you are asked to join and become an operative for a struggling secret paranormal research team. Along your journey you'll be equipped with all kinds of ghost hunting gadgetssuch as an EMF Meter and a full spectrum camera which will be upgradable through out the game. This game originally grabbed my attention because it has you visiting actual haunted locations within the world which is a nice touch. A few of the famous ghosts and locations you'll visit and hunt include suicide forest, pontefract's poltergeist and poveglia island. Whether or not they will be modelled correctly is currently unkown, hopefully they will bare at least a little likeness to the actual location. The developers have stated that Ghost Theory is more of a psychological game and to not expect tons of jump scares but more of a subtle aproach. The game also equips you with a type of clairvoyance power that allows you to experience flashbacks associated with the objects history which in turn will lead to you learning more about the current investigation. There's no release date yet for this title so hopefully we see one soon.

ROUTINE

Routine is a first person exploration horror game that places you on an abandoned moon derelict of human life. Your job is to uncover the truth behind what happened to everyone on the base and of course avoid the same happening to you! The development team over at lunarsoftware states the game will provide a non linear experience that mean some players may find secrets others may not also there are no health packs or health system and the game features a perma death mechanic that strives to keep you on the edge of your seat! The game is set in an 80's vision of the future and people from that era may also get a kick out of the fact that you load floppy disks into your weapon as ammo to give it different effects. This one has been in development for quite a long time and were told that it will release in 2017. We can only hope that this is true and we'll get to get our hands on it soon.

VISAGE

A game that has been inspired by game titles such as P.T., Amnesia and movies like the grudge is sure to be something worth looking at. The game is set within a large house that just so happens to be centuries old with a dark and brutal past to boot. Visage forces the protaganist to relive the horrofic events that happened to the previous residents. Some of whom brutally murdered, others went insane and many others commited suicide.
These events will eventually enlighten the player towards the dark history of the house and the truth behind it. If you liked how P.T. looked and ended up being severely dissapointed that it was cancelled, this one may make you feel a little better in the sense that you'll get to play something that looks just as good. Release is set for 2017

Gameplay -

SCORN

This first person survival horror appropriately named "Scorn" strives to bring new levels of realism to the genre by throwing you into a atmospheric nightmarish universe of which the protaganist has very little knowledge. Along with stunning yet chilling visuals "Scorn" also features lifelike animations when it comes to weapon and object handling in the sense that you actually see your hands handling items rather than them just floating around in front of you. Supplies within the game such as ammo will also be quite scarce so players may be forced to consider multiple strategies to get through different situations. The game also feature little to no heads up display so completing objectives and tracking consumables may be a little more difficult than we you are used to. Scorn will more than likely be in development for a little while seen as most of what we are seeing is cinematic estimated release date is 2017

DAYS GONE

This one is probably one of the least scary looking games on this list but at the same time it also looks very promising and as if it still could very easily get your blood pumping. Players will take on the role of Sam Witwer a bounty hunter who prefers the life on the road as aposed to living with others. The game is set 2 years after a viral epidemic that wiped out most of humanity and has turned millions into zombie type creatures called "freakers". What makes this game look so interesting is the shear amount of enemies you have on you at any one point. How exactly this will work in game is unclear but from recently released footage it seems that "freakers" can be on you like flies on shit in the hundreds within seconds. The game looks like it plays very similar to The Last Of Us to me which instantly makes me happy in the pants and more than likely puts this title in the won't miss category for me personally. The game is set in an open world environment complete with vehicles to navigate so hopefully we can also expect a large area to explore. release is set for 2017.

AGONY

Currently under the development of Madmind studios, "Agony" puts the player in the role of a tormented soul in the depths of hell. With no recolegtion of your past and thrown into a deeply disturbing setting the player is forced to adventure through this pleasent place in an attempt to escape. Apparently you'll be given the ability to control others along their own path through the depths of hell and even the option to control some of the weaker minded demons that you'll meet along the way. Every step through this game seems as if it will be filled with dripping with blood gore and dread the likes of which we've never seen. The recently released trailer features the player trying to stay hidden from a very shameless topless demon that looks like it would do something i'd rather not see if it caught you. It's not very often that a game can make me feel a little queezy but this one really seems like it might just deliver that effect. Scheduled to create brown trousers in 2017.

THE HUM ABDUCTIONS

Abductions also known as the hum game is a first person immersive driven story based gamed. Players will take on the roll of Holly Sanders, a woman living alone with her infant son Dan after the mysterious vanishing of her husband a few months earlier. The game focuses around the lonely protaganist Holly finding out the truth about the Sanders family and the recent trailer shows Holly checking on her son at night shortly before he is obducted by an unseen entity. The Hum abductions is the prequel to the Hum game also know as "The Alien Invasion Simulator" so if you like the look of this one you could always check out the first game while it's in development. The graphics do look stunning in this game and it seems like the developers are pushing for an immersive experience which I really hope is felt whilst playing it. The trailer alone is definitely enough for me to want to check this one out, here's some gameplay so you can decide for yourself.
