SEC-S20W5 | 3rd Time: Desserts.

Welcome to the 5th week of the gastronomy course. Our topic this time is even more interesting. Dessert is among the meals commonly consumed by people all over the world. It is very interesting to learn about this topic and this allows us increase our knowledge about the proper procedures and presentation in cooking dessert-based foods.

In this week class, l have learnt about the 22 dessert and their ideal. Weight for an individual portion should be 125 grams regarding the type of dessert used.

Every homes and nations are blessed with different dessert. At my end, our land is endowed with different varieties especially when it comes to dessert. So very familiar in making dessert of any sort. I believe atleast 90 present of persons around the globe should has a good experience of making dessert. I see dessert as the most simplest but delicious meal of the day.

I have made different types of dessert for myself and for my family consumption. I have made Chips cookies, Brownies, ice cream, cakes, yogurts with fruit, fruit salad and cream based and lots more.

We would like you to prepare a dessert (serve the exact amount for 1 person on a dessert plate). It is important to explain the preparation process and the result of this dessert

It is my delight to share a preparation process of my dessert with you. I choose the most simplest and common desserts which is fruit salad. We all know that fruit salad come with numerous health benefits depending on an individual's combination and it can keep us away from regular visits to Doctor or hospital.

For my soft fruit salad, it contain essential nutrients such as vitamins, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory properties, fiber, immune booster and lot more.

In this contest, I choose five of the types of fruit that commonly found in my area. Today, I went to fruits store and asked of 125 grams of fruit, the below was given and l was delighted to have an accurate measurement of my dessert.

  • Banana :25g 🍌
  • Apple:25g 🍏
  • Watermelon : 25g 🍉
  • Pineapple : 25g🍍
  • Papayas :25g 🍋

Preparation process


Step 1: Reaching the house, l Washed a flat plate and transfer my fresh fruit into it after pealing. I also wash a bowl plate, l will use in adding my desert.

I continued by cutting banana in a roundelle shape and transfer it inside my bowl plate.

My next step comes with cutting of my papayas in a brunoisse cut. Remember Brunoisse cut is a smaller form of dice cut derived from julienne cut.

The next slicing was for watermelon, which gives an attractive colours to the fruit.

I tried cutting my Apple in a stick cut but since it was half Apple, the shape didn't really come out. I sliced it and add to my bowl.

The last among the list was queen pineapple, it is the sweetest among all the fruits.

At this point we are done the cutting and all the fruit is set in a dessert plates. I mixed all the fruit together, thereby arriving at yummy fruit salad 🥗 for one person.

Which starter and which main dish would go with the dessert you just prepared? Imagine a 3-course menu that goes with your delicious dessert.

It will be nice to go with chicken pepper soup as a starter and Tagliatelle pasta with beaf tomato sauce. Definitely this will make my day complete with the healthy balanced diet.

Starter: Chicken pepper soup

Main dish: Tagliatelle pasta with tomato sauce

Dessert: Healthy Fruit salad .

In my own view, I believe that dessert is meant to give a good feeling of pleasure, sweetness, nourishment, refreshment and satisfaction after a long day meal.

The recipe for your fruit salad is well explained and I also like your food combination; chicken pepper soup, Tagliatelle pasta with tomato sauce and fruit salad.
