I'm sure most of you guys have seen what has taken place in the nation's capital here in the united states recently. I understand what many of you are going through having to deal with the pandemic at present, as well as political and economic uncertainty. Now I've done a detailed episode on acupuncture and stress in the past so I will briefly go over stress and how it's diagnosed in Chinese medicine as well as how it can affect your body's Qi, Blood, and yin.

There are many factors, especially in today's environment that can cause an individual to feel stressed. For example, many today are struggling with coming to terms as to if they should take the vaccines presently being administered; whereas some are feeling compelled to take it in haste to simply keep their jobs. This reality presents with a feeling as if you don't have enough time to make the right decision which can cause a person to feel stressed as a result. Another example can be, let's say as a result of feeling stressed we tend to turn to comfort foods that are most times not good for us, and this can include alcohol as well, which only exacerbates stress levels. Another is conflicted at your place of employment because everyone is on edge due to present levels of uncertainty in today's economy, and/or even conflicts in the home due to someone having lost their job or the uncertainty as to if your child will attend school online or in-person, and to top it off, with turning on your television and watching the nation's capital being stormed by protesters as if you really need to add conflict in your life at the moment. Many of us feel as if we have a solution to the issues in which everyone's faced with at present, and points of compromise can seem highly egregious.

You see when it comes to acupuncture, stress is the main factor of depression. The emotional stress factors that give rise to depression are usually anger, sadness, grief, and worry which are all encompassed in the examples I've just stated. You see stress can cause stagnation of the liver, heart, or even lung qi. Stress can also cause heart blood stasis as well as liver blood stasis. It can even affect your yin organs in causing heart, liver, or even kidney yin deficiency. My advice would be to sit with an acupuncturist or contact acupuncture in my life to discuss how your stress factors can be treated with acupuncture. Try and remain as calm as possible, start by perhaps turning off your televisions or putting your phones down for an extended period of time... trust me, you'll notice a difference.

Until next time, Acupuncture Is My Life...what's yours?
