The Piggy Family

in Dream Steem2 days ago

Once upon a time, there was the Piggy family. It consisted of three brothers and their mother. There were three brothers, each with different characteristics. When their mother died, she left each of them an inheritance and asked them to invest it in a better life for themselves.

The youngest brother, Raúl Piggy, was carefree and fun-loving. He eagerly invested his inheritance in lively parties, drinks, and company, believing that enjoyment was far more important than work. He rented a small house so he could spend his money on what delighted him most.

The second brother, Pedro Piggy, wanted to go a little further with his money. He purchased a small house that was being auctioned off. He also bought a second-hand car, which helped him get around, and the rest would be used to accompany his friends on fun outings.

The eldest brother, Frank Piggy, was more sensible. He bought a nice piece of land to build a house his way, with comfortable, durable spaces and without much ostentation. He invested the rest of his money in the stock market, generating a substantial income while continuing to work and establish himself in the company he managed.

This is how the younger Piggy brothers spent several years being very wasteful. The younger brother would go to his brother Pedro's house for food and lodging on some days. This way, he avoided having to spend money on anything other than his entertainment.

For his part, Pedro did not invest in repairs to his small house because he spent his money on outings and trips. All in all, his house was fine for him.

The older brother, Frank, achieved his goal. Through hard work, he became the president of the company where he worked, always gaining a better reputation as an enterprising and honest businessman. On the other hand, he had invested in real estate, and the stock market was yielding very good results. His money had tripled what his mother had left him as an inheritance.

The time of financial turmoil arrived, and taxes began to rise. In order for the state to pay its debts and continue to provide minimum services to its citizens, many people had to tighten their belts.

The Piggy brothers were not exempt from this pressing situation. The first to fall was Raúl, who could no longer afford to pay the rent on his little house. He also lost his car because he couldn't afford to keep up with the service costs. He decided to ask his brother, Pedro, for help, who received him reluctantly. The current economic situation did not allow him to live comfortably.

Things got worse and worse for Raul and Pedro. Raul couldn't find a job, so Pedro now had to support his younger brother. The house was falling apart due to a lack of maintenance. He had to sell his car to be able to continue to cover the minimum daily living expenses.

There came a point when Pedro couldn't take it anymore. He told Raúl that they had to leave the house and sell it to get some money to keep their finances afloat. They asked their older brother, Frank, for help.

Of course, he let them stay at his house. But not before pointing out the mistake they had made in their lives. They had squandered everything their mother had achieved in her lifetime without thinking about their future. Both were unemployed, homeless, and penniless. He would put them up and give them jobs in the offices where he worked.

Thanks to his stock market earnings, he was able to keep his comfortable, but not extravagant, lifestyle afloat.

The condition for letting them stay in his house was that they change their lives. That they become responsible people. They would have honest jobs as laborers. One was a cleaner and the other a receptionist. Both had to prove to him that the money they would be earning would be invested in their personal growth. Otherwise, he would mercilessly fire them from his house.

The brothers agreed. They saw their older brother arriving at work every day, giving his best, taking care of everything and everyone. He worked hard and lived a comfortable life because of how he managed his life.

That's how these two lazy brothers learned that in life, you have to learn to balance income and expenses. Always think about the future, even if it is not guaranteed. Because what we must be sure of is that if problems arise and we cannot solve them, life will take its toll on us without reservation.

Humans aren't wired for discipline in the face of sudden fortune. We’ve all seen the lottery winners who self-destruct—the sudden weight of plenty crushes those who are used to having nothing. I never won the lottery, but looking back at my own reckless spending and wasted moments, I feel that same sting of regret.

I have read many stories about the point you are making today. But I have also read about some who have made very good use of their wealth gained through chance.
That's why I found this story very similar to what I've read. Some waste and others act prudently.
It's a question of the type of person you are. Are you a saver or are you a spender?
