Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah. Dear all respected members of Venezolanos Steem community. I hope you all are well by the grace of Almighty God. Today I am very excited to participate in Week 6 of the ongoing 3R Challenge (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). First of all, a big thank you to the honorable moderator @lunasilver for organizing this beautiful and creative challenge, who is making us aware of the importance of saving the environment by repurposing old things. This initiative of his is not only teaching us new things but also developing our creativity. Through this challenge we are learning how to reuse unnecessary or unused items to create something new. Which is useful in our daily life,It is also beneficial for the environment. In today's episode I will share with you my experience of making a multiuse kantha.

Describe un proceso paso a paso para llevar a cabo tu proyecto de reciclaje. Introduce el origen de tus retazos de tela. ¿De dónde proceden?

Step by step process of making kantha👇

To make this kantha, me and my mom used some old, faded clothes. These included old three-pieces, parts of sarees and scraps of unused cloth. Although they were not usable before, I was able to use them anew through this challenge.

Step 1 :

First I collect old clothes of different colors. Then clean and iron them. So that it is convenient to cut and sew clothes with scissors.

Step 2 :

After that I cut the cloths in equal size (square shape). This will make it easier to fit all the pieces together nicely.

Step 3:

Then I started joining the pieces of cloth one by one on the sewing machine. I tried to keep the color combination nice,So that Kantha looks attractive. So I added each fabric color separately.

Step 4:

After joining all the pieces, slowly make the full shape of the kantha and fix the length and width as required.

1000102668.jpg1000102672.jpg

Step 5:

Finally, the entire kantha is well stitched and finished. Then it is ready for use.

In this way I was able to reuse old fabrics to create a beautiful and usable multi-use scarf. It is such a joyous experience for me.Also a small but important contribution to the environment.

¿Desde cuándo conoces y aplicas las ,3R en tu vida diaria?

I have known about 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) for a long time and follow it in my daily life. Especially growing up in a village has developed the habit of reusing old things since childhood. So the idea of repurposing discarded things is already embedded in my life. I have been involved in handicrafts for about 5-6 years. Like sewing, painting, henna designs. Since I am a seamstress, I have been making various designs and useful items with small scraps of cloth before. Small children's toys, flowers, dolls, etc. with scraps of cloth. It boosts my creativity and I love to work.
Through this challenge, I once again experienced the 3R's-I felt its importance. It took me about 1 hour to stitch the kantha especially using scraps of cloth. This experience of creating something new with old things was very gratifying for me.

Aparte de telas¿Reciclas otros materiales? ¿Cuáles?

Yes, I can recycle many other materials besides clothes. For example plastic bottles, glass jars, old paper, cartons and hardboard etc. Instead of throwing them away, I try to use them in new ways. Before, something new was made every day. Time is short due to current busy schedule.I can make vases or small decoration items out of plastic bottles. Flower tubs or decorations can be made from cardboard and hardboard very easily, I like it very much. Old paper is also sometimes used for essential purposes.I think recycling not only cuts costs,Rather, it also helps to keep the environment clean and beautiful. So I make as much time as possible in my daily life. Instead of throwing them away, we try to make different things and use them again.

You have created a truly beautiful bedsheet using old clothes. Since you are already involved in sewing-related work, you likely didn't face much difficulty. You and your mother have crafted this bedsheet most beautifully. I wish you the very best for this competition.
