I was transported back to our old times by your lovely tale. The only medicine available at the time was superstition and herbal remedies, which were used to treat all the illnesses.

Even medicinal herbs are used to cure certain conditions, this is verifiable, as for superstitions I think that these although irrational helped people to think that they had some defense mechanism against the unknown. Greetings.
Believe me, when people try certain myths, they can sometimes help to cure illnesses that don't respond even to medical treatments.
