Greetings my dear friends. For this edition of Art of Writing I bring you the prominent French artist Hilaire-Germain-Edgar de Gas, more popularly known as Édgar Degas.

Édgar Degas was born in Paris on July 19, 1834. He was the eldest son of Auguste de Gas, an aristocratic banker, and Celestine Musson de Gas. He had two brothers and two sisters.

He always felt an attraction to pictorial art. But, at the insistence of his parents, he began to study law at the Sorbonne; These studies that he abandoned without completing to dedicate himself completely to painting.

According to art specialists; Degas is one of the greatest representatives of "French Impressionism". However, he preferred to call his works "realistic".

The characters in his paintings are very well outlined from a psychological perspective. That is, their body expressions give a message to the viewer.

He died on September 27, 1917, in Paris, at the age of 83.

Below we will present three of his works so that you can choose the one that most motivates you to write. The first is called: "The Rape" (1874), the second, "The Absinthe" (1876) and the third "The Ballet Class" (1871-1874)
