The Borde-Guth-Vilenkin theorem

There is a quite curious theorem that I wanted to bring you and it is the Borde-Guth-Vilenkin theorem, it studies the topic of the multiverse and inflation, they say that the global inflationary state from which our universe and many others were born, that is, the Big Bang, the beginning of our universe, they do not call it a big bang either to be fair, they call it a limit in the past or frontier, where an inflation was born that can be eternal and that is and from which a multitude of bubble universes are emerging, among them the our.

This would explain, among other things, why our universe has such extremely special characteristics, it is literally as if we had won the lottery of a series of parameters of that initial chaos, of quantum chaos, of uncertainty, a completely different universe could have emerged, a small variation and there were no longer atoms or a small variation in the speed of time or dimensions or parameters of nature and everything would have been completely different.

So it is this circumstance of everything being so well adjusted, the fine adjustment, that it is as if we had won the lottery, but we did not know that we had participated in a lottery, like having been born in a universe that was favorable for us, but that could have been completely disastrous. So the possibility that is studied or that is justified that everything is so good in this universe is that perhaps we are simply one of a multitude of multiverses and in this one it has coincided that the conditions are conducive for life to arise and in others it would be a completely horrible universe or it would be chaos or it would be something completely uniform or it would be a paste of matter and energy or it would be an entire universe where life would be much more fruitful and there would be many living beings because it would be more beneficial and depends on certain factors.

The point is that this theorem comes to say that this global fractional state where universes are born cannot have existed since an infinite past, the topic of infinities is fine in mathematics, it is convenient with mathematics, but when we talk about real things it is no longer so convenient, when in physics or science we talk about infinity, when we resort to infinity, when a scientist who studies the real and resorts to infinity, is saying that we enter a place where we do not know how things work well.

This theorem tells you that this inflation could not, could not be, could not arise from an infinite past, there had to be a moment, a border, a limit where everything emerged, they call it a border, it may have been a restart of a cycle, but there had to be a different beginning than a Big Bang, it would be a transition, a border, something had to happen for this entire multiverse to emerge, including our universe.
