Rowan Фnd Waxwing
Greetings, friends
It is not every year that such an abundant rowan harvest occurs.
This photo was taken 4 years ago, in January 2022.
That winter, the berries hung on the trees until spring, because there were many berries in the forest, and the birds did not fly to the village; they had enough food in the forest.

The situation looks different this year. There were no berries on the trees even before the snow appeared. Apparently, there are few berries in the forest, because flocks of Waxwing flew over the village and ate mountain ash. Frozen sweet mountain ash is their favorite food in the fall.

Sometimes you can see 30-40 heads in a pack. These birds are very timid, and at the slightest danger, the whole flock takes off and moves to another tree or flies far away.

These birds can be heard far away, because they produce a special thin whistle. And in Russia they are called the little pipe "sviristel" as a musical instrument.
