Hello folks, it’s good to be here today to show you this piece of art I created. The theme of this art is called “ The emotion of Jealousy” something we don’t really talk about so much in our society and has eaten the heart of so many individuals. This contest was organized by @ninapenda

question

  • Present jealousy from an unusual or unexpected angle.

First before I go into detail he discussion proper I will like us to understand what is jealousy?

Jealousy is that small discomfort that shows up when you see someone else getting something you quietly wanted. It doesn’t always look obvious at first. Sometimes it’s just a sudden mood change you can’t explain. You’re fine one moment, then you see something someone’s success, their relationship, their progress and something inside you tightens a bit.

It’s not always that you hate the person. Most times you don’t even dislike them. It’s more like you start questioning yourself without meaning to. Why not me? What am I missing? When will it be my turn?

Do everyone sometimes have this tendency I would say yes? But when you are self aware you will be able to kill such thought and be happy for people when they are winning. Always remember if it can happen to my friend, siblings, neighbor, it can also happen to me. Always be content with what you have that’s the only way to kill jealousy.

Question

  • What triggers this emotion in your piece?

IMG_1715.jpeg

In my piece, the emotion is mainly triggered by comparison and sudden awareness.
The moment the lady on the left flashes her engagement ring, she unintentionally shifts the atmosphere in the room. Before that, it was just two friends sharing wine and having a good moment. But that small scene disrupted the room.

For the woman on the right, the trigger is not just the ring itself, but what it represents. In a split second, she becomes aware of difference someone has something significant that she may not have yet. That stare at her friend’s hand shows she’s processing it internally rather than reacting outwardly.

Question

  • Does your interpretation show jealousy as destructive, protective, or transformative?

In my piece It’s mainly transformative.
The emotion stays inside the woman rather than coming out as anger or conflict. The silence and stare show reflection, not reaction. It becomes a moment of comparison that may shift how she sees herself or her life.

progress work

This work was done using a charcoal pencil, I first made some random shapes which I used to size up the frame extent of my drawing. It was from that frame I was able to get the full body size and angles of this drawing.

Final rendering

This drawing should encourage us never to entertain any form of jealousy for anyone be it friends and family, because a jealous heart will never result to anything meaningful but instead have a heart of gratitude and love.

Valoro sinceramente tu perspectiva.

Te deseo lo mejor. Hiciste una estupenda publicación.
